COMO LES VAN A LOS PELOTEROS CUBANOS EN LAS LIGAS MAYORES.

De la treintena de peloteros cubanos o de raíces cubanas que arrancaron en los nóminas de los 30 equipos de Grandes Ligas para la temporada 2014, no parece haber dudas de que las notas más altas sobre el terreno las han puesto dos cienfuegueros: el jardinero Yasiel Puig y el inicialista novato José Dariel Abreu.

Al terminar oficialmente la primera mitad de la temporada con el receso para el Juego de Estrellas, Puig aparece con el mejor promedio de bateo (309), y cifras impresionantes en carreras anotadas (53), hits (106) y carreras empujadas (52), 12 jonrones conectados y un notable porcentaje de sluggins de 522.

Pero los numeritos y la espectacularidad sobre el terreno de Puig, bujía de unos Dodgers que lideran la División Oeste de la Liga Nacional (54-43), han tenido una fraternal competencia con lo aportado hasta ahora por su coterráneo Pito Abreu, hoy por hoy la sensación del bateo de largo alcance en la Gran Carpa.

LIDER ABSOLUTO DE JONRONES.

A pesar de perderse 12 juegos de la temporada por una lesión, Abreu aparece encabezando la lista de los jonroneros de ambas ligas, con 29, y acumula ya astronómica cantidad de 73 impulsadas, solo a dos del mayor empujador del torneo, el gran Miguel Cabrera (Tigres de Detroit). Abreu ha sido el puntal de los Medias Blancas, que aparecen con seis juegos por debajo de 500 (45-51) y sus posibilidades de pasar a postemporada son reducidas, a causa de sus debilidades en el pitcheo.

La actuación de Abreu lo sitúa ya como un firme contendiente al galardón de Novato del Año. Solo el estelar lanzador de los Yankees, Mashahiro Tanaka parece con posiblidades reales de discutirle la distinción al cubano, aunque habrá que ver cómo evoluciona la salud del diestro japonés (bajo exámenes por molestias en el brazo) y que le depara la segunda mitad del campeonato,

El ex jugador, mánager y analista Barry Larkin analizaba este domingo en ESPN Deportes el aporte de Puig y de Abreu en los siguientes términos: “Puig ofrece la energía, el dinamismo, la espectacularidad de su corrido de bases y tiros desde los jardines, mientras que Abreu ha dado una demostración impresionante de fuerza… son dos estilos, cada uno con sus talentos”.

Puig y Abreu fueron escogidos para el Juego de Estrellas que se efectuará la noche del martes en el Target Field de Minnesota, junto a otros tres de sus compatriotas recién llegados de la isla: el cerrador Aroldis Chapman (Rojos de Cincinnati), Alexei Ramírez (Medias Blancas) y Yoenis Céspedes (Atléticos de Oakland). Nunca antes cinco peloteros cubanos -considerados desertores del béisbol de la isla- habían coincidido en un Juego de Estrellas.

PUIG Y CESPEDES.

Esta noche Puig y Céspedes se disputarán el Derby de Jonrones, junto a otros ocho contrincantes de ambas ligas. Abreu declinó participar en la justa de los toleteros, alegando que este tipo de competencia suele desajustarle su ritmo de bateo. El pasado año, Céspedes fue el primer cubano en agenciarse un concurso de vuelacercas en Grandes Ligas, con 32 pelotas sacadas del Citi Field de Nueva York.

Otro pelotero cubano que se ha mostrado a gran alturas es Chapman, incorporado al equipo de los Rojas tras una terrible lesión en la pretemporada. La Televisión Cubana (TVC) admitió este martes que le resulta imposible competir con el denominado “paquete” audiovisual, distribuido informalmente en la Isla con programas extranjeros de entretenimiento.

“Somos los primeros interesados en que nuestra televisión sea la principal opción de información, de acceso a la cultura y también de entretenimiento, pero la competencia no es, ni nunca será contra el ‘paquete’, ni con ningún otro medio, sea o no independiente, sino con la calidad a la que aspiramos tengan nuestros productos para satisfacer las demandas y los intereses de los diversos públicos”, indicó Cary Rojas, directora de Comunicación de la TVC.

En una entrevista con el portal oficialista CubaSí, la directiva reconoció que la programación alternativa, distribuida por la gente en soportes informáticos, es “un reto a la producción nacional audiovisual”, pero “las soluciones no están todas al alcance y exigen de plazos para su cumplimiento”.

Y señaló que “si hay algo decisivo en todo esto, es el diálogo, entre creativos, directivos, y realizadores todos, para implicar a todos en los cambios que necesitamos y la calidad que aspiramos”.

LOS HIJOS DE GALICIA EN CUBA. Entrevista.

María del Pilar Fernández, nacida hace 75 años en Cuba es tesorera de la Sociedad ‘Hijos de Valle de Oro’ en La Habana. Estos días visita a su familia paterna en Alfoz: «Mi padre era nativo de Oiras y tengo aquí unos cuantos primos que conocí de pequeña, hace 63 años. Gracias a la Xunta, con su programa Reencontros, estoy aquí. Es maravilloso reencontrarme con la familia, bellísimo».

-Su padre emigró a Cuba ¿De dónde era?
Mi padre era de Coto, en Oiras y mi madre, de Sarria. Los dos emigraron a Cuba en 1919. Se conocieron allí y se casaron. Se fueron con 19 años, entonces había mucha emigración de Galicia a Cuba. Cuando llegaron mi padre empezó a trabajar en panaderías,. estuvo muchos años de panadero hasta que andando el tiempo adquirió una y luego otra. Mi madre fue sirvienta en varias casas, cuidaba niños; luego se casó y se convirtió en ama de casa, murió a los 82 años y mi padre a los 96.

-Como fue su vida en Cuba?
Bien. Yo trabajé durante 50 años en una industria alimentaria que elaboraba productos de confitería, pastas alimenticias y galletas, desenvolví mi actividad en el área económica (precios, costes…), porque soy economista. (…) Bien. Tengo una hija que es estomatóloga, está haciendo una especialidad en periodontología y está bien. Ahora mismo estaba tratando de pasarle un mensajito para decirle que aquí estoy encantada de la vida.

-Usted estuvo aquí hace 63 años ¿Notó mucho cambio ahora?
Si, y para bien. Para mi es todo desconocido, tengo la visión de algunas cosas, pero todo lo demás es nuevo para mi. -Además es tesorera de Hijos de Valle de Oro en La Habana, una sociedad con mucha historia
-En septiembre cumple 107 años. Tiene 300 socios, de ellos 209 son gallegos o descendientes de gallegos, pero los nativos de Galicia quedan poquitos, no llegan a cuatro. Mi hija es socia. Yo soy ciudadana española, empadronada en Alfoz, por lo tanto soy de Alfoz y voto cuando hay elecciones.

-En la Sociedad a qué se dedican
..Hoy en día tenemos actividades relacionadas con cultura; hay una fiesta infantil, el 12 de julio, donde los niños bailan, cantan, se visten con los trajes gallegos, van magos, payasos, una fiesta que se celebra en los salones del centro gallego de La Habana; antes de venir para acá celebramos el Día das Letras Galegas, con lectura de textos en gallego, incluiso hay quien da clases en gallego, se lee, se cantan canciones gallegas se toca música gallega y en septiembre, cuando llegue celebraremos el cumpleaños de la sociedad. Es una asociación donde nos reunimos, compartimos entre todos y tenemos un panteón en el cementerio de La Habana, cuidado y atendido, y los socios y familiares que lo requieren allí se entierran (…)

-Es fácil el día a día
-Bueno…Normal, como siempre, llevamos 50 años pasando algunos trabajos, por lo demás….bien.(…) La medicina y la escuela es gratuita.

-¿Qué le parece ser la pregonera este año?
Me cogió de sorpresa, el castillo lo conozco porque lo he visto, pero de la historia de Pardo de Cela me estoy documentando ahora, pero rememorar los hechos de tiempos atrás y guardarlos es muy importante. Los gallegos en Cuba jamás olvidaron su tierra; hasta el último día estuvieron hablando de ello y haciendo que los hijos y los nietos siempre la recordaran aunque nunca la hubieran visto. Mi padre hablaba de los recorridos, de cuidar los animales, del clima duro, de tener que ir de un lado para otro, pero los recuerdos de la juventud nunca son malos, hablaba de la fiestas (…). Ningún emigrante olvida nunca.
