CUBA OPENS ITS BORDERS BUT IN STALK OF COVID-19

“We are tourists, we are 14. They told us that we tested positive for Covid-19, but we did not even see it,” they assured, referring to the results of the laboratory tests that were carried out upon arrival.

“They don’t answer questions. We are isolated in terrible conditions. We fear for our lives. Help us!” The vacationers asked, according to the report.

According to the Russian media Newsru.com, all tourists who have had contact with diagnosed patients must remain in quarantine in their rooms for five days, after which they will have to undergo a second free PCR test.

If the result is positive, they must go to the Sol Cayo Coco hotel, available for foreigners confirmed with coronavirus. The mandatory five-day quarantine, regardless of the presence or absence of contact with the infected, must be complied with by foreigners arriving on regular flights to the Havana international airport, explained the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

Nana Mgeladze, Russia’s consul general in Cuba, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta last week that until that moment the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) had informed her of 34 citizens of that country diagnosed with the disease.

CUBA ABRE SUS FRONTERAS PERO EN ACECHO DEL COVID-19

“A pesar de la lejanía —más de 9.500 kilómetros de Rusia a Cuba—, la isla es uno de los pocos destinos turísticos activos en este momento para los veraneantes rusos, pues otros países más cercanos mantienen sus fronteras cerradas al turismo internacional, a lo que se añade la condición que brinda la isla caribeña”, agregó el representante de Anex Tours.

Con nueve hoteles en funcionamiento de los 18 disponibles en ambos cayos, los turistas rusos disfrutan su estancia en Cuba, bajo estrictas medidas de protección sanitaria, que inician desde su arribo al aeropuerto Jardines del Rey, y que incluyen pruebas de PCR (test de biología molecular Reacción en Cadena de la Polimerasa, por sus siglas en inglés).

En las instalaciones hoteleras también existen protocolos de sanidad, dirigidos a garantizar la estancia de los turistas, y en caso de detectarse algún caso de contagio, existen lugares habilitados para aislar a las personas afectadas por el nuevo coronavirus SARS-CoV-2.

PROTESTAN TURISTAS RUSOS

Más de una decena de turistas rusos confinados en Cuba por presunto contagio de Covid-19 enviaron un mensaje de auxilio al diario oficial del Gobierno de su país Rossiyskaya Gazeta, para suplicar a las autoridades que los saquen de la Isla.

“Somos turistas, somos 14. Nos dijeron que dimos positivo por Covid-19, pero ni siquiera lo vimos”, aseguraron, en referencia a los resultados de los exámenes de laboratorio que les realizaron al llegar.

“No nos responden preguntas. Estamos aislados en terribles condiciones. Tememos por nuestras vidas. ¡Ayúdanos!”, pidieron los veraneantes, de acuerdo con el reporte.

Según el medio ruso Newsru.com, todos los turistas que hayan tenido contacto con los enfermos diagnosticados deben permanecer en cuarentena en sus habitaciones durante cinco días, tras lo cual deberán someterse a una segunda prueba de PCR gratuita.

Si el resultado es positivo, deberán trasladarse al hotel Sol Cayo Coco, dispuesto para extranjeros confirmados con coronavirus. La cuarentena obligatoria de cinco días, independientemente de la presencia o ausencia de contacto con los infectados debe ser cumplida por los extranjeros que lleguen en vuelos regulares al aeropuerto internacional de La Habana, explicó la Asociación de Turoperadores de Rusia (ATOR).

Jaime precisó que las medidas sanitarias de protección, al principio, se pueden sentir un poco complicadas, pero cuando se percatan que es por su propia seguridad, a los pocos días se van acostumbrando, van ganando confianza, y comienzan a darse cuenta que están “en uno de los mejores lugares del mundo” para pasar sus vacaciones, y eso lo transmiten.

“Para lograr un turismo seguro hay una gran preparación de fondo —aseguró el director del Memories Flamenco—, en medio de una situación como esta, y los turistas experimentan que todos los trabajadores de nuestros hoteles están preparados para garantizar su seguridad, y eso permite ganar la confiabilidad de los clientes”.

Cuba cerró sus fronteras a partir del 24 de marzo de este año, como consecuencia de la propagación del nuevo coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, prevención que impactó negativamente en la economía de la isla, que depende en buena medida de los ingresos del sector turístico.

​El 1 de julio se reabrió la entrada a la isla de visitantes extranjeros, solo en algunos cayos alrededor del archipiélago cubano, como parte de las medidas aplicadas para la primera etapa de recuperación anunciada el 17 de junio, medida que no se pudo extender a otras regiones del país a consecuencia del rebrote ocurrido a fines de julio.

Después que se anunciara el pasado 15 de octubre la apertura de casi todos los aeropuertos del país, turoperadores, agentes de viajes y aerolíneas internacionales reiniciaron sus operaciones en Cuba en los meses de octubre y noviembre, entre ellos Rusia.
