LA VIRGEN DE REGLA, MUNDIALMENTE VENERADA. NUESTRA SANTA EN LA REGLA DE OCHA. PHOTOS.

La Virgen de Regla es una advocación mariana católica venerada en Cuba y otros países hispanos, conocida como patrona de los marineros y del puerto de La Habana. En la santería cubana, se sincretiza con la orisha Yemayá, la diosa del mar. Su devoción llegó a Cuba con los colonizadores españoles, y la imagen de una virgen negra es símbolo de la fusión entre las creencias católicas y africanas.

El templo donde se venera a la Virgin de Regla es también muy acudido por los creyentes de la Regla de Ocha, o Santería. En esta religión la Virgen de Regla representa a Yemayá, la dueña de los océanos y es una de las deidades de mayor devoción en esa religión.

En Cuba, en Güaicanamar (“frente al mar”, como su nombre aborigen lo indica), se edificó en 1690, una ermita de mampostería donde se entronizó una imagen de la Virgen de Regla proveniente de España, y llevada por el sargento mayor Pedro de Aranda, dándole nombre al caserío de Regla y siendo proclamada patrona del lugar el 23 de diciembre de 1714.

La ermita, fue fundada por don Manuel Antonio, natural de Lima (y primero que tuvo la licencia para vestir el hábito de ermitaño) en terreno cedido por el Obispo Compostela. Era primero de guano, y fue destruida por el huracán de 1692. En 1792, un ermitaño asturiano nombrado Juan de Coyedo Martín, construyó una iglesia de tapia y tejas, y vivienda para el albergue de los hermanos que recogían limosnas del vecindario. En 1712 juró el cabildo de la Habana por patrona de la bahía, a la virgen de Regla.

VIRGEN DE REGLA Y REGLA DE OCHA

Este templo es también muy acudido por los creyentes de la Regla de Ocha, o Santería. En esta religión la Virgen de Regla representa a Yemayá, la dueña de los océanos y es una de las deidades de mayor devoción en esa religión. En sus zonas aledañas podemos encontrar vendedores de reproducciones de la virgen en yeso, madera o papel, collares y la conocida “cascarilla” tan usada por los creyentes de esa religión.

La original Virgen de Regla es una escultura sedente, cuya antigüedad se remonta al s. XII-XII, Es una talla de 62 cms. de altura, de una sola pieza, de madera policromada, sentada en un trono, con el Niño en pie sobre la pierna izquierda. A finales del s.XVI pasó a vestir ropajes de “reina”. La imagen, con corona y aureola, adquiría así un tamaño relevante que realzaba su figura con vistas a sacarla en procesión.

El nombre parece obedecer a su origen leonés. Los canónigos regulares, provenientes de León, bautizarían a la imagen con el nombre de Regla, como la de su Catedral: “Sta Maria de Regla”, en León.

La leyenda se remonta al siglo V; los vándalos, que cruzaron el estrecho de Gibraltar para invadir el norte de Africa, tienen sitiada la ciudad de Hipona , en la que agoniza el obispo San Agustín; su diácono Cebrián logra escapar con la imagen y se instala en Chipiona, lugar de ermitas. Se le llamaría Nuestra Señora de Regla porque ante ella había escrito San Agustín su famosa Regla. Con la invasión musulmana la zona quedó dominada por los sarracenos, y el prior de los ermitaños escondió la imagen en un pozo. Así encontró la imagen el 1330 un canónigo regular de León que, guiado por una inspiración, vino hasta este lugar y le dio nombre a la virgen.

Este año, por las festividades del 328 Aniversario de la fundación del municipio de Regla en Cuba, la Delegación Municipal de Fiestas Patronales de Nuestra Señora de Regla en Chipiona, ciudad de Andalucía donde se encuentra la imagen original y que desde 1997 mantiene una relación de hermanamiento con dicho municipio cubano, se celebran fiestas dedicadas a dicha celebración.

El cartel anunciador (que aparece en esta publicación) recoge una litografía cubana al cromo del siglo XIX en la que aparece la Virgen de Regla y su Santuario en el municipio cubano de Regla.

Unos de los grandes devotos que ha tenido la Virgen de Regla fueron los Infantes de Orleans.

De manos de Don Alfonso de Orleáns y Borbón y Dña. Beatriz de Sajonia, llegaron hasta la Virgen de Regla la Reina Isabel II de Brasil, Amelia de Portugal, los Condes de París, la Reina de Rumania y muchos más…

TORONTO/CARACAS- El secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, Marco Rubio, afirmó este miércoles que las fuerzas militares de su país tienen todo el derecho a operar en “su hemisferio” y que Europa no es quien para determinar la legalidad de las operaciones contra las lanchas en el Caribe supuestamente cargadas con drogas.

Rubio también afirmó que durante la reunión de ministros de Exteriores del G7, que concluyó este miércoles en la localidad canadiense de Niagara-on-the-Lake, no se trató la legalidad de los ataques de su país contra embarcaciones en el Caribe y en los que han muerto decenas de personas.
