Severo Alberto Borges Abreu conocido solo como Lino Borges, fue una de las emblematicas romanticas voces entre los cantantes boleros del pais y latinoamerica, se le conocio como “La Voz Romantica de Cuba” e interpretó como nadie temas como “Vida consentida” y “Corazón de cristal”, dos de sus grandes éxitos.

Nacido en Batabanó, el 8 de agosto de 1933 en la provincia de la Habana, sus padres eran campesinos, y él se desempeñaba como recogedor de berro y en los descansos, sus compañeros de faena le pedían que los complaciera con sus interpretaciones.

CARRERA ARTISTICA

Se convirtió en artista profesional a los 16 años de edad con la orquesta de J. R. González, en la que estuvo varios años. Posteriormente cantó con los conjuntos Universal, de Melena del Sur, Casablanca, Casino, Rumbavana y el Conjunto Saratoga. Con este último conjunto permaneció durante 20 años, antes de convertirse en solista.

Reconocido por grandes musicólogos de la isla como uno de los más importantes cantantes masculinos del bolero en Cuba, junto a figuras como Vicentico Valdés, Abelardo Barroso, Pacho Alonso, René Cabell, Tito Gómez, Ñico Membiela, Fernando Alvarez, Orlando Contreras, Orlando Vallejo, José Tejedor y Roberto Sánchez, entre tantos buenos intérpretes que dio la isla cubana.

Constituyó toda una leyenda este insigne bolerista durante los años 1960 – 1970, para el pueblo venezolano, pues fue el interprete de una de las canciones más bellas dedicadas a lo más intimo del romance, compuesta por un venezolano, el Dr. Homero Parra, como lo es “Vida consentida”, convirtiéndose en todo un éxito en Latinoamérica y demás países donde igualmente se habla el idioma castellano, elevando la condición de ídolo que incipientemente ya se veía en Lino Borges como cantante de boleros, ya que esa preciosa composición le sirvió de bandera para abrir sus presentaciones personales, amén de las cuantiosas ventas que de su grabación se hicieron, lo que le valió recorrer el mundo del espectáculo como toda una estrella deslumbrante del canto romántico.

Sus últimas presentaciones fueron en el Salón Bolero (Dos Gardenias), en cuya programación era una figura estelar. Llevaba varios años actuando en centros nocturnos, estaba preparando una gira por República Dominicana, que comenzaría en semanas cercanas a la fecha de su deceso.

Lino Borges, falleció los 71 años de edad, el 23 de agosto de 2003 en el hospital de La Habana, a causa de una afección pulmonar y fue enterrado en la intimidad familiar en su pueblo natal de Batabanó.

Reconocidos artistas cubanos, como el cantante Ibrahim Ferrer, integrante del famoso proyecto musical “Buena Vista Social Club”, o la directora de orquesta Zenaida Romeu, fueron algunos los mas conocidos artistas que sintieron muy de cerca la muerte de Lino Borges.

Severo Alberto Borges Abreu known only as Lino Borges was one of the emblematic romantic voices among the bolero singers of the country and Latin America, he was known as “La Voz Romantica de Cuba” and interpreted songs like “Vida spoiled” and “Corazón glass”, two of his greatest hits.

Born in Batabanó, on August 8, 1933, in the province of Havana, his parents were peasants, and he worked as a watercress collector during breaks, his workmates asked him to please them with his interpretations of the.

ARTISTIC CAREER

He became a professional artist at the age of 16 with the J. R. González orchestra, in which he spent several years. Later he sang with the ensembles Universal, Melena del Sur, Casablanca, Casino, Rumbavana and Conjunto Saratoga. With this last group, he stayed for 20 years, before becoming a soloist.

Entre las fiestas que ya son costumbres y constituyen tradiciones en Cuba tienen que mencionarse sin falta las parrandas, los carnavales, las fiestas campesinas o guateques, las charangas y las fiestas patronales.

Entra las más reconocidas y más populares tanto en Cuba como en el resto del mundo, se cuentan: las famosas parrandas de Remedios, en la región central de la Isla, que han sido declaradas como Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación; las populares Romerías de Mayo, que se festejan en la oriental provincia de Holguín; los conocidos Carnavales de la capital de todos los cubanos La Habana y los Carnavales de Santiago de Cuba y las Charangas de Bejucal, que tienen lugar en la occidental provincia e Mayabeque.

COSTUMBRES Y TRADICIONES QUE PERSISTEN….

Hay muchas costumbres de la isla que todavia nos persiguen y de las cuales es difícil desprenderse, por mucho tiempo que uno lleve viviendo en el extranjero.

Tales costumbres fueron adquiridas en tiempos de escasez, en la Isla, y aunque ya no sea preciso recurrir a ellas, se instalaron con fuerza en nuestro inconsciente, y es difícil desprenderse de ellas.

He aquí algunas de esas costumbres, que acompañan a buena parte de los cubanos dondequiera que vivan:

1. Sacudir el pomo de aceite, o el envase con puré de tomate, hasta la última gota, encima del sartén. Los casos graves ponen el pomo virado bocabajo, en un recipiente, para “exprimirlo” hasta el último atisbo.

2. Echarle ron, o whisky, o tequila, o cualquier bebida alcohólica, en el piso, en un rincón, al santo que la necesita.

3. Exprimir el tubo de pasta dental con una fuerza y una paciencia aniquiladoras. Los casos graves lo cortan con una tijera para introducir el cepillo, o una vez terminados los abren por atrás para retomar los resquicios.

4. Guardar jabas de nailon, envases plásticos, pomos “bonitos” o periódicos y revistas viejas porque el papel puede servir para algo.

5. Limpiar el pomo de mayonesa ya casi vacío con migajas de pan o de galletas que recuperen las estrías del aceite emulsionado. Es una variante de la obsesión con los oleaginosos que nos acompaña toda la vida.

6. Quejarse de que los plátanos maduros, los mameyes, los mangos y las guayabas no tienen el mismo sabor que en la Isla.

7. Enjuagar latas y pomos de cualquier producto para echar el enjuague en el sofrito, en los frijoles.

8. Raspar las cazuelas o jarros donde se hizo natilla, y el fondo de la lata de leche condensada en busca del poquito que se puso duro en el fondo.

9. Comparar todas las colas que uno ve, las pocas que se ven, con la de Coppelia, en los años setenta, ochenta, noventa…

10. Guardar pozuelos de helado, o cajitas plásticas diversas para refrigerar distintos pedacitos de utilizarás, o no, en algún momento.

11. Echar agua de la pila o de la ducha, en el pomo de champú para aprovechar el fondaje, y lavarte la cabeza con esa agua de enjuague de champú, que a lo mejor queda tan buena, o mejor, que el producto puro y original.

12. Y soñar con una fiesta donde vuelvan a darte cajitas de cartón donde el cake de merengue se ligue con la ensalada fría de coditos y mayonesa.

Among the festivals that are already customs and traditions in Cuba, parrandas, carnivals, peasant festivals or guateques, brass bands and patron saint festivals must be mentioned without fail.

Among the most recognized and popular both in Cuba and in the rest of the world, are: the famous parrandas of Remedios, in the central region of the Island, which have been declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation; the popular Romerías de Mayo, which is celebrated in the eastern province of Holguín; the well-known Carnivals of the capital of all Cubans, Havana, and the Carnivals of Santiago de Cuba and the Charangas de Bejucal, which take place in the western province of Mayabeque.

CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS THAT PERSIST…

There are many customs of the island that still haunt us and which are difficult to get rid of, no matter how long one has been living abroad.

Such customs were acquired in times of scarcity, on the Island, and although it is no longer necessary to resort to them, they were firmly installed in our unconscious, and it is difficult to get rid of them.

Here are some of those customs, which accompany a good part of Cubans wherever they live:

1. Shake the knob of oil, or the container with tomato puree, to the last drop, on top of the pan. Serious cases put the turned knob upside down, in a container, to “squeeze” it to the last hint.

2. Throw rum, whiskey, tequila, or any alcoholic beverage, on the floor, in a corner, to the saint who needs it.

3. Squeeze the tube of toothpaste with killing force and patience. Serious cases cut it with scissors to introduce the brush, or once finished they open them from behind to return to the cracks.

4. Save nylon crates, plastic containers, “pretty” knobs, or old newspapers and magazines because paper can be used for something.

5. Clean the almost empty mayonnaise knob with breadcrumbs or biscuit crumbs to recover the streaks of emulsified oil. It is a variant of the obsession with oilseeds that accompanies us all our lives.

6. Complaining that ripe bananas, mameyes, mangoes, and guavas do not have the same flavor as on the Island.

7. Rinse cans and jars of any product to pour the rinse into the sofrito, and into the beans.

8. Scrape the pots or jars where the custard was made, and the bottom of the can of condensed milk in search of the little bit that got hard at the bottom.

9. Compare all the tails that one sees, the few that are seen, with that of Coppelia, in the seventies, eighties, nineties…

10. Save ice cream scoops, or different plastic boxes to refrigerate different bits that you will use, or not, at some point.

11. Pour water from the sink or from the shower, into the shampoo bottle to take advantage of the foundation, and wash your head with that shampoo rinse water, which may be as good, or better, than the pure product and original.

12. And dream of a party where they give you little cardboard boxes again where the meringue cake is linked with the cold salad of coditos and mayonnaise.

María Conchita Alonso nació María Concepción Alonso Bustillo el 29 de junio de 1957 en Cienfuegos, Cuba, y se crió en Caracas, Venezuela. Es una actriz, ex reina de belleza y cantante cubano-venezolana que se nacionalizó estadounidense el 20 de agosto de 2007.

María Concepción Alonso Bustillos emigró de Cuba a Venezuela después de cinco años con su padre Ricardo Alonso, Conchita Bustillo su madre y sus hermanos Richard y Robert.

Fue coronada Miss Teenager World en 1971 y luego como Miss Distrito Federal se convirtió en la primera finalista en la competencia Miss Venezuela 1975 ubicándose más tarde ese año entre las siete primeras de Miss World 1975. Se convirtió en una actriz popular en América Latina, trabajando en diez telenovelas y protagonizó un cuarteto de películas venezolanas. También fue una cantante popular y tiene tres nominaciones a los premios Grammy.

En 1973, a los 16 años, ganó en Lisboa, Portugal, el premio “Miss Princesa del Mundo”. Representando a Venezuela. Dos años después representó al Distrito Federal en el “Miss Venezuela 1975” realizado en el Poliedro de Caracas el 9 de mayo de 1975. Fue la primera finalista. María Conchita asistió al concurso “Miss Mundo 1975” celebrado en el Royal Albert Hall, en Londres (Inglaterra) el jueves 20 de noviembre de 1975. Clasificada entre las siete finalistas. Fue séptimo.

Al llegar a Venezuela desarrolló una ascendente carrera como actriz de televisión. Participó en varias telenovelas de Radio Caracas Televisión, RCTV, Canal 2 de Venezuela.

El compositor Rudy La Scala editó en 1980 dos discos bajo el sobrenombre de Amber: Love Maniac y The Witch, con gran éxito, con los que se dio a conocer. A partir de ahí se grabaron otros discos de éxito con temas de renombre como “Tócame”, “La loca”, “Nada más”, “Lluvia de amor” y otros que la catapultaron al estrellato internacional. María Conchita habla cuatro idiomas.

En 1982 decidió emigrar a Estados Unidos, a Los Ángeles, para realizar su sueño de “conquistar” Hollywood. Su debut lo hizo a continuación protagonizada por el famoso actor Robin Williams en la película Moscú en Nueva York. Como cantante consolidada dio un concierto en “El Junquito” en una cárcel de Caracas, Venezuela el 29 de octubre de 1984. En 1994 regresó al canal que la lanzó a la fama, RCTV, donde protagonizó la telenovela La escritora Alexandra de Delia Fiallo.

Reside en los Estados Unidos, donde se hizo ciudadana y participa en la exitosa serie Desperate Housewives como la madre de Eva Longoria, apareciendo en la adaptación española de la serie como la madre de Scarlet Ortiz.

Ella protagonizó un escándalo al ser fotografiada sin ropa interior en una playa de Miami, solo le dijo a los medios que sigue siendo hermosa y que no le importa la edad. Uno de sus trabajos más recientes ha sido en la película Material Girls.

En 2006 participó como docente en el concurso de canto Cantando por un Sueño, su alumno fue el actor y cantante Luis Roberto Guzmán y su Argelia soñadora.

En 2011 fue invitada a participar como jurado en TV Azteca, cantando el programa Academia, junto al músico Chacho Gaytán y el periodista Arturo López Gavito, donde interpretó el tema “Noche de Copas” con los estudiantes. Ese mismo año participó en “Grandiosas In Concert”, evento que reunió a cantantes de éxito de los años ochenta. Debido al éxito de este concierto, vuelve a presentarse bajo el mismo concepto en marzo de 2012.

MARÍA CONCHITA ALONSO EN CONTROVERSIAS POLÍTICAS…

María Conchita Alonso está generando controversia por un anuncio político en el que aparece con un legislador del California Tea Party que se postula para gobernador (2014).

Varias organizaciones latinas criticaron a la actriz por respaldar a Tim Donnelly, un asambleísta que fundó un capítulo estatal de los Minutemen, un grupo armado de patrulla fronteriza, y que ha presionado por una línea dura con la inmigración.

Los críticos también discreparon con lo que dicen es el estereotipo de los latinos en el video de campaña en el que aparece Alonso con Donnelly.

En el video, que se publicó el lunes, Alonso sostiene un pequeño perro que presenta como “Tequila” y, en ocasiones, usa expresiones vulgares mientras traduce al español los comentarios de Donnelly sobre sus puntos de vista sobre varios temas.

“El anuncio de Tim Donnelly con María Conchita Alonso es tan malo que casi da risa”, dijo un comunicado de Café Con Leche, un grupo republicano latino. “El anuncio parece diseñado para atraer a los votantes hispanos, pero en cambio insulta la inteligencia de muchos votantes hispanos”.

El grupo dijo que Alonso era un ejemplo de cómo “una y otra vez las estrellas de cine a menudo carecen de sentido común”.

En una entrevista de Spreecast de agosto de 2012, Alonso expresó su oposición a la reelección de Obama y dijo que, de ser reelegido, tomaría medidas para que Estados Unidos se parezca más a Venezuela bajo el gobierno de Chávez.

En enero de 2014, Alonso renunció a una producción de San Francisco de Los monólogos de la vagina después de aparecer en un anuncio del candidato republicano a gobernador Tim Donnelly.

El 17 de septiembre de 2014, el presidente de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, solicitó al ministro del Interior, Miguel Rodríguez Torres, que iniciara acciones legales para revocar la ciudadanía venezolana de Alonso. El motivo fue su pedido público en una entrevista radial de una intervención militar contra Venezuela: “En mi opinión, (EE.UU.) debe intervenir, porque los cubanos ya invadieron sin disparar una sola bala porque se la dieron (a Venezuela) gratis. Entonces Me gustaría que EE.UU. invadiera a balazos para sacar a todos esos comunistas de Venezuela”.

A mediados de 2016, Alonso declaró que no apoyó ni al candidato presidencial republicano Donald Trump ni a la candidata presidencial demócrata Hillary Clinton en las elecciones estadounidenses, considerándolos inaceptables. Terminó apoyando a Gary Johnson en las elecciones generales.

“The Tim Donnelly ad with Maria Conchita Alonso ad is so bad it’s almost laughable,” said a statement by Café Con Leche, a Latino Republican group. “The ad seems designed to appeal to Hispanic voters, but instead insults the intelligence of many Hispanic voters.”

The group said that Alonso was an example of how “time and time again movie stars often lack common sense.”
