CELEBRA CIENFUEGOS, CUBA “LA PERLA DEL SUR” SUS 203 AÑOS DE FUNDADA. PHOTOS/VIDEOS

AL RITMO DEL DANZÓN, la música que ameniza el baile nacional de Cuba, recibió hoy esta ciudad, Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad, el aniversario 203 de su fundación el 22 de Abril de 1819.

La Orquesta Failde, de Matanzas, protagonizó la velada cultural que dio la bienvenida al cumpleaños de la urbe en el céntrico parque Martí, antigua Plaza de Armas en tiempos de la dominación española.

Se recordó entonces como colonos franceses o de origen francés, procedentes de Burdeos y Nueva Orleans, formaron parte de aquella avanzada colonizadora al mando del oficial Luis Lorenzo De Clouet y Piette, fundador y Gobernador Político y Militar de la Colonia Fernandina de Jagua y su jurisdicción, designado por su majestad Fernando VII.

Aun hoy se puede encontrar en el centro histórico de la ciudad, declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad, la construccion que sirvio de morada al fundador de la Villa de Cienfuegos. El sólo hecho de haber sido la residencia de Don Juan Luis De Clouet, ya bastaba para ello, pero sus ventanas de balustres, líneas simples y sólida hechura hacen de éste local un importante exponente de la arquitectura local del siglo XIX

El inmueble alcanzó su definitiva fisionomía en 1941 cuando se autorizó y ejecutó la construcción de sus portales.

Con el paso de los años, si bien la planta alta se mantuvo en función de vivienda, en los años 40 del pasado siglo se desglosó en varios apartamentos. En la planta baja se instalaron diversos establecimientos comerciales como el Café Central. Hoy radica allí la tienda «El Fundador».

De manera que a Cienfuegos le acompaña el sello de haber sido la única población entre las posiciones españolas en América, que tiene un origen francés.

FUNDACION DE LA CIUDAD DE CIENFUEGOS Y SU FUNDADOR…

En Marzo de 1819, viniendo a Jagua, por la vía de Batabanó, Luis Lorenzo de Clouet y Pierre en unión de 46 colonos franceses procedentes de Burdeos y Nueva Orleáns llegaron a la entonces Villa de Fernandina de Jagua. Al llegar a Jagua se trasladaron a la orilla del Río Saladito, muy cerca del lugar que ocupó un poblado indio, donde fueron alojados en tiendas de campaña y en chozas o bohíos de los indígenas. Allí empezó a trazar el lugar que ocuparía la Colonia.

El 22 de abril de 1819, según Acta levantada al efecto, dio De Clouet por fundada la Colonia Fernandina de Jagua, llamada así en honor al Rey de España, en tanto conservaron el que le daban los aborígenes a esta comarca.

Era el coronel De Clouet un hombre enérgico, tal vez demasiado fuerte, pero en aquellas circunstancias eran indispensables tales condiciones de carácter para triunfar en la obra emprendida. Luchó contra muchas dificultades. Al fundar la Colonia, ordenó al Alférez de Navío Don Félix Bouyón trazar un plano de la población, donde quedó señalado el lugar que ocuparían los edificios públicos y plazas. Ordenó que las primeras casas, que eran modestas viviendas de yagua y guano, fueran hechas al fondo de los solares, facilitando con esta medida, la construcción de mejores edificios en el futuro.

Dieron cuenta, en sesión ordinaria del Ayuntamiento, sobre el ascenso del Fundador a Brigadier, y el 20 del mismo mes entregó su Señoría el gobierno a su hijo, el Capitán de Lanceros Don Alejandro De Clouet, por haber sido relevado del cargo de Gobernador Político y Militar de la Villa.

El 3 de mayo de 1843 se plasmó en los libros del Ayuntamiento del título de Castilla, que con el nombre de Conde de Fernandina de Jagua concedió la Reina de España al Brigadier Don Luis De Clouet como prueba de lo grato que fue a su Majestad los importantes servicios en la Fundación de la Colonia.

Luis De Clouet radicado en España falleció en Madrid, en 1848 a consecuencia de pleuresía.

En 1995 el centro histórico alcanzó categoría de Monumento Nacional, y en julio de 2005 la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Educación, la Ciencia y la Cultura (Unesco) lo inscribió en la lista del Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad.

“Muestra un importante intercambio de influencias basadas en la Ilustración Española y por ser un ejemplo excepcional y adelantado de su implementación en el planeamiento urbano en América Latina en el siglo XIX”, argumentó entonces la organización del Sistema de Naciones Unidas, reunida en Durban, Sudáfrica.

Como cada año en el contexto del aniversario de la ciudad, localizada 240 kilómetros al sureste de La Habana, acontece la Semana de la Cultura Cienfueguera, un espacio para la pervivencia de las tradiciones que identifican su patrimonio intangible.

Entre las acciones de más realce estuvo esta vez la declaración como Monumento Nacional del sitio arqueológico de la Loma del Convento, lugar que marca el encuentro cultural entre colonizadores españoles y aborígenes cubanos entre los años 1515 y 1516.

FOUNDATION OF THE CITY OF CIENFUEGOS AND ITS FOUNDER…

He ordered that the first houses, which were modest yagua and guano dwellings, be built at the back of the lots, facilitating with this measure the construction of better buildings in the future.

They reported, in an ordinary session of the City Council, on the promotion of the Founder to Brigadier, and on the 20th of the same month his Lordship handed over the government to his son, Captain of Lanceros Don Alejandro De Clouet, for having been relieved of the position of Political Governor and Military of the Villa. For this reason and as a proof of affection, the City Council agreed to place the portraits of the Founder and his wife in front of that of the Kings.

On May 3, 1843, the title of Castile, with the name of Count of Fernandina de Jagua, was granted by the Queen of Spain to Brigadier Don Luis De Clouet as proof of how pleasant it was to her Majesty the important services in the Foundation of the Colony.

Luis De Clouet living in Spain died in Madrid in 1848 as a result of pleurisy.

In 1995 the historic center reached the category of National Monument, and in July 2005 the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) inscribed it on the list of Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
