TERMINA EN WASHINGTON EL II ENCUENTRO ENTRE LA HABANA Y EMIGRADOS CUBANOS.

Los participantes en el II Encuentro de cubanos residentes en Estados Unidos exigieron en Washington el fin del embargo, así como la liberación de los tres espías cubanos presos en cárceles norteamericanas, una politica sustentada por la administración cubana por tiempo considerable.

El evento sesionó este fin de semana con la presencia del director para Asuntos Consulares y de Cubanos Residentes en el Exterior del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Cuba, Rafael Dausá Céspedes. En él se analizó “el bloqueo y la política de EEUU hacia la Isla y la necesidad de un cambio en esta”, así como la inclusión de Cuba en la lista de países que patrocinan el terrorismo y “el esfuerzo por un reflejo más objetivo de Cuba en los medios norteamericanos y la contribución que pueden hacer las nuevas tecnologías y las redes sociales”, según indicó el portal oficialista Cubadebate.

Dausá calificó de “oportunidad histórica” regresar a Washington para participar en un evento en que “el amor a la patria ha estado por encima de cualquier consideración”. Destacó que se han celebrado más de 30 reuniones de emigrados en diferentes países de todos los continentes, y que en Europa se organizó incluso un encuentro continental.

“Ya no puede hablarse de un puñado de cubanos realizando acciones aisladas a favor de su país. Para orgullo de Cuba y sus emigrados, puedo decir que existen en la actualidad 148 organizaciones de cubanos residentes en 76 países”, enfatizó Dausá.

Los paneles incluyeron a abogados, investigadores, académicos, periodistas, blogueros, activistas y otros profesionales cubanos residentes en EEUU. Entre los panelistas estuvieron el abogado Antonio Zamora; Andrés Gómez, coordinador de la Brigada Antonio Maceo; Elena Freyre, presidenta de la Fundación para la Normalización de Relaciones (Fortnom), y el profesor de la Universidad Internacional de la Florida, Guillermo Grenier, quien presentó los últimos resultados de encuestas sobre Cuba que realiza regularmente ese centro de estudios. Llegada desde La Habana, intervino también la presentadora del programa televisivo Mesa Redonda, Cristina Escobar.

“No existen problemas de fondo hoy entre Cuba y la mayoría de sus emigrados”, expresó en palabras inaugurales el embajador José Ramón Cabañas, jefe de la Sección de Intereses de Cuba en Washington, quien señaló que “la gran mayoría de los cubanos que viven en el exterior desea una relación seria y respetuosa con su país”.

El evento, que reunió a un centenar de cubanos residentes en diversas ciudades estadounidenses, aprobó un documento final que ratifica “el compromiso de los emigrados con la defensa de la soberanía nacional cubana, reclama de EEUU la eliminación del bloqueo y la exclusión de Cuba de la lista de países patrocinadores del terrorismo y exige la inmediata excarcelación de los luchadores antiterroristas cubanos Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, Ramón Labañino Salazar y Antonio Guerrero Rodríguez”.

Asimismo, el comunicado señala que las medidas migratorias adoptadas por Cuba en 2013 constituyen “un importante paso de avance en el proceso de normalización de las relaciones entre la nación y su emigración” y resalta “la encomiable y valiente labor de los médicos cubanos de asistir a los pueblos de África en el combate a la epidemia de ébola”.

Continuando con la agenda establecida, el documento final critica “la subversión contra Cuba orquestada por la USAID” y reclama al gobierno de Estados Unidos que cese “la persecución a las transacciones financieras internacionales cubanas”, lo cual, señala, ha dificultado la operatividad de la Sección de Intereses de Cuba en Washington y “generado serias afectaciones a los servicios consulares que requerimos los cubanos residentes en este país”.
