Mayra Cristina Gómez Martínez Kemp Febles nació el 14 de febrero de 1948 en La Habana, Cuba. Es mejor conocida como Mayra Gómez Kemp, es una conductora de televisión, actriz y cantante cubano-española. En España, fue la conductora de “Un, dos, tres … responda otra vez” de 1982 a 1988.

CARRERA ARTÍSTICA.

Mayra Gómez Kemp nació en Cuba y es hija de dos famosos artistas cubanos, Ramiro Gómez Kemp y Velia Martínez. Tiene una hermana mayor llamada Georgina, que es contadora en Miami. El primero de febrero de 1960, su familia se mudó a Puerto Rico, luego se mudó a Venezuela y finalmente se instaló en Miami. En 1967, como estudiante universitaria, apareció en la película B The Death Curse of Tartu, bajo el nombre artístico de Mayra Christine. En la década de 1970, Mayra fue a España para actuar en la producción teatral española de The Rocky Horror Show. En el escenario trabajó junto al actor argentino Alberto Berco, quien interpretó el papel del narrador, quien con el tiempo se convirtió en su esposo.

En 1976, cuando el exitoso concurso de Televisión Española Un, dos, tres … responda otra vez regresó a la televisión para ser transmitido en color por primera vez, Mayra audicionó para el papel de una de las secretarias del programa. Con Mayra como vocalista principal, disfrutaron de una breve pero intensa popularidad gracias a sus habilidades vocales y su imagen encantadoramente sexy, logrando un éxito de verano con Rema, Rema, Marinero (“Row, Row, Sailor”). Mayra dejó el grupo en 1978 para seguir una carrera en solitario, grabando el álbum Una Dama (Una dama), que incluyó su versión del éxito pop antiaborto de Julio Ramos “No Te Dejan Nacer” (“They Won’t Let You Be Born “).

Comenzó su carrera como presentadora de televisión en programas de Televisión Española como 625 Lineas (su debut como presentadora y primer TP de Oro de cuatro como mejor presentadora) y Ding Dong. Mayra también regresó al cine en 1978 con Donde Hay Patrón …, protagonizada junto a Manolo Escobar. Tras convertirse en ciudadana española, Mayra recurrió a la radio como una de las locutoras originales de la nueva emisora ​​Antena 3 (ahora desaparecida). En el mismo canal, protagonizó el talk show Simplemente Mayra. . Después de La Ruleta de la Fortuna, condujo el programa regional Luna de Miel en 1992.

Desde entonces, las apariciones televisivas de Mayra se ralentizaron, apareciendo ocasionalmente en programas regionales. En 1996, condujo el programa médico El Ritmo de la Vida en el Canal 7 de Madrid. Presentó por última vez un programa en 1999 para el programa de concursos de cocina Tomates y Pimientos (Antena 3 TV). Ha aparecido esporádicamente como invitada a programas de entrevistas en varios programas y ha concedido numerosas entrevistas. Ha realizado aportaciones a Menta y Chocolate (Antena 3 TV), Salsa Rosa, Dolce Vita, A Tu Lado y TNT (Telecinco).

A finales de 2006 apareció en la segunda temporada del concurso de stand-up El Club de Flo (LaSexta), obteniendo el segundo lugar. En 2007, apareció brevemente en el programa A 3 Bandas (Antena 3 TV). En 2008 apareció regularmente como invitada en el programa matutino Sin ir más lejos (Aragón TV).

En octubre de 2009, reveló que en enero del mismo año le habían diagnosticado cáncer de lengua, por lo que fue operada. Si bien no resultó en ninguna amenaza para su vida, afectó su discurso, lo que inicialmente le hizo imposible hablar. En el transcurso de un año, con la ayuda de logopedas y especialistas, recuperó por completo su capacidad para hablar, aunque con una pronunciación levemente afectada como consecuencia de la operación.

En 2010, comenzó a aparecer en programas de Telecinco como Sálvame Deluxe para hablar sobre su exitosa recuperación de su enfermedad. Sin embargo, el 11 de febrero de 2012 reveló en La noria que el cáncer había regresado, esta vez en la garganta. El 13 de julio, anunció oficialmente en Sálvame Deluxe que estaba libre de cáncer.

En 2014 publica sus memorias tituladas ‘Hasta aquí puedo leer’.

In 1976, when the successful Televisión Española game show ‘Un, dos, tres… responda otra vez’ returned to television to be broadcast in color for the first time, Mayra auditioned for the role of one of the secretaries on the program. Although she wasn’t selected as a secretary, she was hired to perform small roles as a comic actress on the show and Mayra’s appearances made her famous by the time she left the show in 1977.

That year, Mayra teamed with two of the show’s former secretaries, María Durán and Beatriz Escudero, to form the pop vocal band Trío Acuario (Aquarius Trio because that was the zodiac sign of all three women). With Mayra as lead vocalist, they enjoyed a brief but intense popularity thanks to their vocal skills and their charmingly sexy image, scoring a summer hit with Rema, Rema, Marinero (“Row, Row, Sailor”). Mayra left the group in 1978 to pursue a solo career, recording the album Una Dama (One Lady), which included her cover of Julio Ramos’s anti-abortion pop hit “No Te Dejan Nacer” (“They Won’t Let You Be Born”).

She began her career as a television presenter on Television Española programs such as 625 Lineas (her debut as a presenter and first TP de Oro out of four as the best presenter) and Ding Dong. Mayra also returned to film in 1978 with Donde Hay Patrón…, starring alongside Manolo Escobar. After becoming a Spanish citizen, Mayra turned to radio as one of the original announcers on the new station Antena 3 (now defunct). Along with other presenters she appeared on the children’s show Sabadabada, later titled Dabadabada. She left Dabadabada in 1982 when she was chosen by Chicho Ibáñez Serrador as a substitute for Kiko Ledgard, the famous host of ‘Un, dos, tres… responda otra vez’, who had suffered a near-fatal accident. After leaving the show in 1988, she continued working on radio and hosted the chat show Tres mas Una on regional station Canal Sur.

With the launch of commercial television in Spain in 1989, Mayra returned to television and hosted La Ruleta de la Fortuna, Spain’s version of Wheel of Fortune on Antena 3 TV, until 1991. On the same channel, she fronted the talk show, Simplemente Mayra. After La Ruleta de la Fortuna, she hosted the regional show Luna de Miel in 1992.

Since then, Mayra’s television appearances slowed, appearing on the occasional regional show. In 1996, she hosted the medical program El Ritmo de la Vida on Madrid-based Canal 7. She last hosted a show in 1999 for the cookery-based game show Tomates y Pimientos (Antena 3 TV). She has appeared sporadically as a talk show guest on various programs and has given numerous interviews. She has made contributions to Menta y Chocolate (Antena 3 TV), Salsa Rosa, Dolce Vita, A Tu Lado, and TNT (Telecinco).

At the end of 2006, she appeared on the second season of the stand-up contest show El Club de Flo (LaSexta), winning second place. In 2007, she briefly appeared on the show A 3 Bandas (Antena 3 TV). In 2008 she appeared regularly as a guest on the morning talk-show ‘Sin ir más lejos’ (Aragón TV).

In October 2009, she revealed that in January of the same year she had been diagnosed with tongue cancer, for which she had surgery.[1] While not resulting in any threat to her life, it affected her speech, making it initially impossible for her to talk. Over the course of a year, with the help of speech therapists and specialists, she completely regained her ability to speak, albeit with a slightly affected pronunciation as an aftereffect of the operation.

In 2010, she began making appearances on shows on Telecinco such as Sálvame Deluxe to talk about her successful recovery from her illness. However, on February 11, 2012, she revealed on La noria that cancer had returned, this time in her throat.[2] On July 13, she officially announced on Sálvame Deluxe that she was cancer-free.
