Luisa Georgina Cabrera Parada, más conocida por Gina Cabrera, nació en la Habana el 28 de mayo de 1928 y fue una reconocida actriz cubana de la radio, la televisión, el cine y el teatro, devenida ícono de la actuación en Cuba. Con una extensa trayectoria artística y profesional, fue catalogada como la Reina del Drama.
A temprana edad, recibió todo el apoyo de sus padres y familiares, para iniciar su camino en el mundo el arte.fue una actriz cubana. Siendo una de las artistas mas destacadas en la Radio, Teatro y TV en Cuba hasta 1960.
Fundadora de la TV en Cuba incursionando en todos los géneros, Comedias, Tragedias, Novelas, Aventuras, Teatro en TV, Programas Infantiles, etc. Algunos de los más recordados: Miércoles de amor Palmolive, Soraya una flor en la tormenta, Los mambises, Juana Azurduy, El Caballero Blanco, Sábado 37, El mambisito, etc, etc, etc. En Radio numerosísimos programas tanto infantiles como para adultos. Tanto en Radio Liberación como en Radio Rebelde, Radio Progreso, infinidad de novelas radiales, programas informativos, de crítica como: Crítica de Radio y TV, y muchísimos para niños como Tía tata cuenta-cuentos, etc.
CARRERA ARTISTICA
Sus comienzos en la radio se remontan a finales de la década de los años cuarenta. Poco tiempo es suficiente para adueñarse del dial al asumir los papeles protagónicos en novelas, seriales, aventuras, teatros y cuentos, primero en Unión Radio, hasta llegar al codiciado Circuito CMQ.
Debutó en el cine con el melodrama Sed de amor (1945), seguido por la comedia concebida a la medida de Leopoldo Fernández y Aníbal de Mar, Príncipe de contrabando (1950). Luego, vino La renegada (1951) al lado de Rita Montaner y, cuando ya era una de las actrices más populares y mejor pagadas de los medios cubanos, le llegó la coproducción con México, La rosa blanca (1954) dirigida por Emilio El Indio Fernández.
Pero fue en su trabajo como actriz de televisión el que le confirió mayor popularidad. Fue fundadora de este medio, y luego dio muestras de notable versatilidad en comedias, melodramas, novelas, aventuras o programas infantiles. Fue también pionera de telenovelas en los espacios llamados Miércoles de amor Palmolive, donde estableció, desde 1955, una célebre pareja romántica con el actor Alberto González Rubio.
Gina Cabrera fue una de las actrices más dedicadas a difundir los clásicos de la escena por la pequeña pantalla, sobre todo en el espacio Gran Teatro del Sábado, por CMQ, donde se televisaron obras no solo de Benavente, Tennessee Williams, Ibsen y Pirandello, sino también de Shakespeare y Eurípides. Más tarde, ya con la Revolución, sería protagonista también del Teatro ICR.
Después de la Revolución, Gina Cabrera se mantuvo haciendo televisión, en papeles heroicos o épicos en Los mambises, así como en teleteatros como Mariana Pineda y La zapatera prodigiosa. Gina Cabrera también fue alfabetizadora y maestra de actuación de niños y adultos, además de formar parte de comisiones de evaluación de actuación y otras actividades afines con la enseñanza del arte.
Después, las apariciones de Gina Cabrera se fueron espaciando, hasta desaparecer casi por completo de los medios, aunque reapareció en un programa de los años noventa que conducía Alfredo Rodríguez, y su rostro todavía hermoso, noble, se asomaba de vez en cuando a recibir algún premio por la labor de toda una vida.
Fue maestra de niños y adultos, parte de comisiones de evaluación de actuación y demás actividades afines con la enseñanza del arte. Muchos años consecutivos de donaciones de sangre por los cuales también le fue otorgada medalla que nunca llegó a sus manos.. Principales entretenimientos y/o aficiones actuales: Leer, escribir Poesía, pintar flores, ver deportes como: esgrima, equitación, campo y pista, tiro, natación, (practicados durante su vida laboral) Viajes (de trabajos casi todos): México, Europa, China, América del sur, ex – URSS, Estados Unidos.

La actriz falleció en la mañana del lunes 3 de enero de 2022, en La Habana, Cuba, a la edad de 93 años. Su muerte significó la pérdida de una figura legendaria e icónica de la actuación, referente para varias generaciones de actores y actrices. Al mismo tiempo, considerada un gran mito de las artes escénicas en el país.

Luisa Georgina Cabrera Parada, better known as Gina Cabrera, was born in Havana on May 28, 1928, and was a renowned Cuban actress on radio, television, film and theater, who became an icon of acting in Cuba. With an extensive artistic and professional career, she was listed as the Queen of Drama.
