ARRASAN LOS CUBANOS CON 17 NOMINACIONES A LOS GRAMMY LATINOS. PHOTOS. VIDEOS.

Los músicos de la Isla se hicieron con la categoría Mejor Álbum Tropical Tradicional casi íntegra. El duo ‘Ibeyi’, ‘Gente de Zona’, ‘Leoni Torres’: los cubanos acaparan 17 nominaciones a los Grammy Latinos.

DE LOS dúos Ibeyi y Gente de Zona a Chucho Valdés y el Septeto Ignacio Piñeiro, los músicos cubanos de fuera y dentro de la Isla acapararon 17 nominaciones a los Premio Grammy Latinos 2022, que serán entregados el venidero 17 de noviembre en Las Vegas, EEUU.

De acuerdo con la Academia de los Grammy Latinos, las hermanas Ibeyi se incluyeron en la difícil categoría de Mejor Fusión Interpretación Urbana por el tema “This is not America”, junto a Residente, y en el que rivalizan con Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Christina Aguilera y Becky G, entre otros.

El mismo tema fue nominado también en la categoría de Mejor Video Musical Versión Corta.

Las hermanas gemelas del dúo franco-cubano de soul electrónico Ibeyi, Naomi y Lisa-Kaindé Díaz, nacieron en París pero vivieron en La Habana durante los primeros dos años de sus vidas antes de regresar a París. Su padre fue el afamado percusionista cubano Anga Díaz, miembro del Buena Vista Social Club. La música de las hermanas es una fascinante combinación de influencias e historias.

Los cubanos se hicieron con la categoría Mejor Álbum Tropical Tradicional casi íntegra. Allí tienen candidaturas Leoni Torres, por su disco Canten; Gonzalo Rubalcava y Aimée Nuviola, con Gonzalo Rubalcava y Aimée Nuviola live in Marciac; el Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro, por Gran Combo pa’ rato, tributo al Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, y Renesito Avich, por Café con cariño.

Como Mejor Álbum Tropical contemporáneo aparece De menor a mayor, de Gente de Zona, mientras que como Mejor Álbum de Salsa está Alexander Abreu y Havana D’Primera, por Será que se acabó.

En el apartado Mejor Canción Tropical se incluye Marc Anthony y el cubano Lenier Mesa, por el tema “Mala”, junto a Amaury Gutiérrez y Jorge Luis Piloto, con “El Malecón vio el final”.

En Mejor Álbum Folclórico aparece Ancestros Sinfónico, de Síntesis, Eme y X Alfonso, y en Mejor Álbum de Jazz Latino/Jazz está Mirror mirror, de Chucho Valdés, junto a Eliane Elias y Chick Corea.

Como Mejor Álbum Instrumental aparece la cubana Glenda del E, quien incluyó su disco Ella, junto a la venezolana Daniela Padrón.

En Grabación del Año y Álbum del Año el ingeniero de sonido cubano Juan Mario Aracil, ‘Mayito’, amasa cuatro candidaturas, a razón de dos en cada una.

La agencia oficial Prensa Latina reportó las nominaciones evitando mencionar, como es habitual, a varios de los candidatos cubanos que no son del gusto del régimen, como Gente de Zona y Lenier Mesa, así como a Ibeyi, entre otros.

The musicians from the Island won the Best Traditional Tropical Album category almost completely. The duo ‘Ibeyi’, ‘Gente de Zona’, ‘Leoni Torres’: the Cubans monopolize 17 nominations for the Latin Grammys.

FROM THE Ibeyi and Gente de Zona duos to Chucho Valdés and the Ignacio Piñeiro Septet, Cuban musicians from outside and inside the Island monopolized 17 nominations for the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards, which will be presented on November 17 in Las Vegas, USA.

According to the Latin Grammy Academy, the Ibeyi sisters were included in the difficult category of Best Fusion Urban Performance for the song “This is not America”, along with Residente, in which they rival Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Christina Aguilera, and Becky G, among others.

The same theme was also nominated in the category of Best Short Form Music Video.

The twin sisters of the French-Cuban electronic-soul duo Ibeyi, Naomi, and Lisa-Kaindé Díaz, were born in Paris but lived in Havana for the first two years of their lives before moving back to Paris. Their father was the famed Cuban percussionist Anga Díaz, a member of the Buena Vista Social Club. The sisters’ music is a bewitching conflation of influences and storylines.

The Best Tropical Song section includes Marc Anthony and the Cuban Lenier Mesa, for the song “Mala”, together with Amaury Gutiérrez and Jorge Luis Piloto, with “El Malecón saw the end”.
