La Bodeguita del Medio is a restaurant bar in Havana (Cuba) and a famous tourist destination for the personalities who have sponsored it and wrote their visits on its walls. La Bodeguita claims to be the birthplace of the ‘Mojito’ cocktail, made at the bar since its inauguration in 1942.

HISTORY OF THE BODEGUITA DEL MEDIO
In 1942, Ángel Martínez bought the small Bodega La Complaciente on Empedrado Street # 207, in the Old Havana neighborhood. He renamed the place Casa Martínez. Ángel Martínez sold typical Cuban products and, from time to time, served dinner to the regulars. But mainly, the people who met at Casa Martínez were there to have a drink with their friends and savor a new cocktail called Mojito, made with rum, mint, sugar, lime, and soda.
