CON LA FUGA ESTE SÁBADO de Bryan Chi, de 22 años, y de Miguel Antonio González, de 21, suman un total de nueve peloteros los que han escapado del equipo Cuba en Hermosillo, México. Con estas deserciones quedan solo 15 atletas en la delegación de la Isla que participa en el Campeonato Mundial sub-23 de béisbol, en el estado de Sonora.
Chi abandonó la selección horas antes de realizarse el partido por el bronce ante Colombia, explicó el reportero deportivo Francys Romero en su cuenta de Facebook. “Ocho días de éxodo sin precedentes en la historia de la emigración del béisbol cubano”, añadió el experto residente en Miami.
Ahora al mánager Eriel Sánchez le quedan solo 16 jugadores (de 25 que tenía la nómina que arribó a México) para el vital juego, algo inédito en la historia del béisbol cubano y mundial.
Chi estaba considerado como uno de los mejores lanzadores del equipo Sub-23 y uno de los de más perspectivas de crecimiento dada su condición de prospecto. El habanero también había participado en el mes de mayo pasado en el torneo preolímpico efectuado en la Florida donde Cuba buscó infructuosamente un boleto hacia la Olimpiada de Tokio 2020.
Su actuación en el Mundial Sub-23 fue de 11 entradas lanzadas, las cuales ponchó a 11 rivales y solo otorgó 2 bases por bolas. Su promedio de carreras limpias fue de 4.45 por cada nueve capítulos, producto de dos cuadrangulares.
Chi participó en tres desafíos durante el Mundial, dos como abridor y como relevo precisamente en el partido que dio la posibilidad de discutir el bronce tras vencer a Panamá nueve carreras por ocho.
El habanero ha estado en cuatro Series Nacionales con Industriales. Debutó en la 2017-2018 como relevista y se mantuvo en esa función durante la 2018-2019. En sus dos últimas campañas ha cumplido el rol de abridor con buenos resultados.
El derecho de 22 años abrió 21 y 11 juegos respectivamente en 2019-2020 y 2020-2021 llegando a tener actuaciones destacadas en partidos de postemporada ante Camagüey y Granma en Cuartos de Final.

Por su parte, la salida de González “ocurrió entre 4:00 p.m. y 5:00 p.m. (hora de México), según tres fuentes cercanas a la situación”, detalló Romero.
González, nacido en la provincia de Granma, fue el capitán del equipo Cuba en el Mundial Sub-18 de 2017 que se disputó en Canadá. “Venía de batear .218/.417/.439, en 107 turnos con los Alazanes de Granma en la pasada 60 Serie Nacional”, detalló Romero en su texto.

Antes de Chi y González, se habían fugado los lanzadores Yeinel Zayas, Luis Dennys Morales, Uber Mejías, Dariel Fernández, además del receptor Loidel Rodríguez, el jardinero Reinaldo Lazaga y Diasmany Palacios, jugador de cuadro.

El Instituto Nacional de Deportes Educación Física y Recreación (Inder) acusó el domingo pasado al bloqueo del acuerdo entre la Federación Cubana de Béisbol y la Major League Baseball, de estimular “el tráfico de atletas en defensa de intereses políticos”.
El Inder aseguró en sus redes sociales que las marcha de los peloteros “confirma el cinismo con que la Administración de Trump anuló el acuerdo”, que además consideró una “desventaja cruel que impide el flujo natural a los circuitos de esa organización”.
Sobre el tema el comentarista de la televisión cubana Pavel Otero dijo que la selección cubana de béisbol “está enfrentando uno de los escenarios más hostiles en la historia de nuestro movimiento deportivo”.
“No duden que esos inescrupulosos traficantes de personas, al servicio de los enemigos de la Revolución, van a seguir insistiendo”, asegura Otero tras dar a conocer la noticia de la fuga de los primeros atletas.
