Nelson Ascencio (born August 30, 1964) is a Cuban actor and comedian.

Ascencio is most notable for his membership in the recurring cast of comedians on sketch comedy series MADtv and for playing Flavius in The Hunger Games film series.

Nelson Ascencio was born in Havana, Cuba but fled his homeland when he was very young. He then immigrated to New York, where he started acting in his early teens with local theater and school productions.

He continued his acting training after high school at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the HB Studios. While living in Manhattan, Ascencio perfected his comedy skills by doing some stand up.

Then he moved to Los Angeles, California where he took classes at the Groundlings Theatre. Since then he has written, performed and produced his own sketch shows with the comedy group Unsafe Sketch at HBO Workspace, Luna Park, The Upfront and Theatre at the Improv. His television credits include appearances on The Larry Sanders Show and Seinfeld.

Ascencio joined the cast of MADtv in 1999 as a feature performer, for the fifth season. However, Ascencio was later promoted to a repertory performer status the at the beginning of the sixth season, but left at the end.
In February, 2012 Ascencio joined the cast of Don’t Tell My Mother! (Live Storytelling), a monthly showcase in which celebrities share comedic accounts of stories they would never want their mothers to know.

Ascencio appeared in The Hunger Games (2012), as Flavius, a part of Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) prep team. He reprised his role in the sequel The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013).

Nelson Ascencio (nacido el 30 de agosto 1964) es un actor y comediante cubano.

CUBA CUISINE: STEAK WITH ONIONS CUBAN STYLE. RECIPE. .

I call this post Cuban onions steak because many will think it is nonsense marinate meat with lemon, because it gets hard, because it loses flavor, etc … but in Cuba always did well and when I do not otherwise I know that my mom does.

Ingredients

2 bisteques moth or ball

2 cloves garlic, crushed
salt
Pepper
1 large white onion
2 tbsp olive oil

Preparation

COCINA CUBANA: BISTEC ENCEBOLLADO CUBANO.RECETA.

Le llamo a este post bistec encebollado cubano porque muchos van a pensar que es un disparate adobar la carne con limón, porque se pone dura, porque pierde el sabor, etc… pero en Cuba siempre lo hicimos así y cuando lo hago de otra forma no me sabe al que hace mi mamá.

En mi país le ponemos naranja agria o limón a las carnes y pescados para adobarlos. El lechón asado, uno de nuestros platos emblemáticos y el rey de todas las celebraciones importantes, se adoba con naranja agria al menos de un día para otro. Al adobo del pescado sí que he renunciado, porque se cocina sobremanera con el limón.

La clave para que quede bien este bistec es que sea finito y que se cocine poco. Debemos dejarlo en el adobo de limón al menos media hora y mejor de un día para otro. Duran adobados hasta 3 días.

Estos bisteques se preparan en 10 minutos y son comfort food total. Se pueden acompañar con congrí, arroz con frijoles negros, ensalada, maduros, tostones, y es especial para el pan con bistec.

Pan con bistec

Ingredientes

2 bisteques de palomilla o de bola
El jugo de 1 limón
2 dientes de ajo machacados
Sal
Pimienta
1 cebolla blanca grande
2 cdas de aceite de oliva

Preparación

Salpimienta los bisteques y adóbalos con el ajo machacado y el jugo de limón. Colócalos en un recipiente de vidrio, tápalos y ponlos al refri al menos media hora.

Escurre el adobo de los bisteques.

Calienta el aceite en una sartén a fuego alto y cocina los bisteques de vuelta y vuelta y que se doren. Agrega la cebolla y colócala debajo de la carne. Baja el fuego a medio y sigue cocinando unos 5 minutos, para que se pongan tiernas.

A la hora de servir, pon la cebolla sobre la carne.

Esta receta se puede hacer también con bisteques de cerdo.
