Leonardo Padura Fuentes, writer, Narrator and journalist was born in Havana, in 1955.

This year will be reprinted in Cuba (not given date) his book ‘The novel of my life’ work that a comprehensive perspective and with excellent trade narrative reveals to us the life of the Cuban romantic poet José María Heredia from their questions and concerns.

The work will be put back in the hands of readers editions killings, whose director Alfredo Zaldívar said that it’s one of the most unique works of Cuban writer and constitutes an ambitious and unsettling search in the essence of our culture, our history and our being.

The novel of my life was first published in 2002 in Santo Domingo where obtained a year before the international novel prize home theatre. In Cuba Ediciones Union gave it to know that same year and after his release won the national prize of the critics, but above all the recognition of the public and specialists.

In this book, Padura establishes the parallelism between two times. On one side, Fernando Terry decides to return to Havana attracted by the possible discovery of an unpublished autobiography of Heredia in the archives of a Masonic lodge. The return will take you to track its own story, the possible betrayal of one of their comrades who would have led him into exile. On the other hand also Heredia would have been betrayed by his friend and frustrated poet Domingo de el Monte.

The Narrator puts us in 1818, in 1822, in 1837, in 1898, in 1921, or a long today. For that purpose, it takes as its focus the life of the first great Cuban poet, José María Heredia, from its time, through characters drawn by the vicissitudes of history, project a light toward the present national, poetic and human. For many scholars of contemporary Cuban literature, this is the most ambitious, complex and accomplished Padura’s novel.

The novel of my life is a work which, seeking the origins of the Cuban, manages to reveal some of the most dramatic and painful of a nationality constants.

Among the works of Leonardo Padura are the tetralogy “The four seasons” (police court novels): past perfect (1991), winds of lent (1994), masks (1997) and autumn landscape (1998) – works that have earned him, among other lauros, on two occasions the Dashiell Hammett international award to the best crime novel of the year in 1997 and 1998: two Critics Awards : the award national’s novel: the award coffee Gihon and the of the Islands, in France. Also the peculiar Lieutenant researcher Mario Conde reappeared in Adiós Hemingway novel and the serpent tail story.

Padura has received important recognitions national e international as the Prize Princess of Asturias of them lyrics by 2015 and the award national of literature of Cuba in 2012. Recently published two successful novels: the man who loved dogs and heretics.

LEONARDO PADURA: REEDITARÁN EN CUBA SU LIBRO “LA NOVELA DE MI VIDA”.

Leonardo Padura Fuentes, escritor, narrador y periodista nació en La Habana, en 1955.

Durante el presente año será reimpresa en Cuba (fecha no anunciada) su libro ‘La novela de mi vida’ obra que desde una visión integral y con excelente oficio narrativo nos revela la vida del poeta romántico cubano José María Heredia desde sus interrogantes y preocupaciones.

La obra será puesta nuevamente en manos de los lectores por Ediciones Matanzas, cuyo director Alfredo Zaldívar expresó que se trata de una de las más singulares obras del escritor cubano y constituye una ambiciosa e inquietante búsqueda en las esencias de nuestra cultura, de nuestra historia y de nuestro ser.

La novela de mi vida fue publicada por primera vez en 2002 en Santo Domingo donde obtuviera un año antes el Premio Internacional de Novela Casa Teatro. En Cuba Ediciones Unión la dio a conocer ese mismo año y tras su salida mereció el Premio Nacional de la Crítica, pero sobre todo el reconocimiento del público y los especialistas.

En este libro, Padura establece el paralelismo entre dos épocas. De un lado, Fernando Terry decide regresar a La Habana atraído por el posible descubrimiento de una autobiografía inédita de Heredia en los archivos de una logia masónica. El retorno le llevará a rastrear su propia historia, la de la posible traición de alguno de sus compañeros que le habría llevado al exilio. Por su parte también Heredia habría sido traicionado por su amigo y frustrado poeta Domingo del Monte.

El narrador nos sitúa en 1818, en 1822, en 1837, en 1898, en 1921 o en una dilatada actualidad. Para ese propósito, toma como centro de su interés la vida del primer gran poeta cubano, José María Heredia, para desde su época, a través de personajes arrastrados por los avatares de la historia, proyectar una luz hacia el presente nacional, poético y humano. Para muchos estudiosos de la literatura cubana contemporánea, esta es la novela más ambiciosa, compleja y lograda de Padura.

La novela de mi vida es una obra que, buscando orígenes de lo cubano, consigue revelar algunas de las constantes más dramáticas y dolorosas de una nacionalidad.

Entre las obras de Leonardo Padura están la tetralogía “Las cuatro estaciones” (novelas de corte policial): Pasado perfecto (1991), Vientos de cuaresma (1994), Máscaras (1997) y Paisaje de otoño (1998) –obras que le han valido, entre otros lauros, en dos ocasiones el Premio Internacional Dashiell Hammett a la mejor novela policial del año en 1997 y 1998: dos Premios de la Crítica: el Premio Nacional de Novela: el Premio Café Guijón y el de las Islas, en Francia. También el peculiar teniente investigador Mario Conde reapareció en la novela Adiós Hemingway y en el relato La cola de la serpiente.

Padura ha recibido importantes reconocimientos nacionales e internacionales como el Premio Princesa de Asturias de las Letras 2015 y el Premio Nacional de Literatura de Cuba en 2012. Recientemente publicó dos exitosas novelas: El hombre que amaba los perros y Herejes.
