Los Zafiros, el cuarteto de armonía vocal que revolucionó el panorama musical cubano nació en 1961 en el barrio habanero de Cayo Hueso, y se inspiró en los grupos norteamericanos The Platters, The Mills Brothers and The Modernaries.

Leoncio Morua “Kike”, Miguel Cancio “Miguelito”, Ignacio Elejalde y Eduardo Elio Hernández “El Chino” formaron la afamada agrupacion que en agosto de 1965 les llega su más importante éxito, con el Music Hall de Cuba.

Toda la creatividad musical de THE ZAFIROS fue una fusión de géneros cubanos, como el bolero, con doo-wop, baladas, R&B, calipso, bossa nova y rock and roll primitivo. Los Zafiros, formados el barrio de Cayo Hueso, La Habana en 1961, por Miguel Ángel Cancio Soria, con los siguientes integrantes:

CARRERA ARTÍSTICA

El proyecto se había dado a conocer ya el pasado noviembre, aunque no se sabía que las tierras hubieran sido entregadas en usufructo. Sería la misma promesa que hizo el Gobierno a los rusos, como dijo Boris Titov, presidente del Consejo de Negocios Cuba-Rusia, en 2023.

Según dijo entonces la agencia Reuters, el consejero del Kremlin aseguró que la Isla ha ofrecido a los empresarios rusos el derecho al usufructo de tierras durante un período de 30 años. Las condiciones afectaban, explicó, “tanto al arrendamiento de tierras a largo plazo como a la importación libre de impuestos de maquinaria agrícola, la concesión del derecho a transferir ganancias en divisas, y mucho más. Por supuesto, también estamos esperando la reducción de las barreras burocráticas”.

Además de traer a sus propios especialistas, la entidad vietnamita aportará los fertilizantes, herbicidas, plaguicidas y demás recursos necesarios para la producción, así como variedades híbridas del país indochino, con las que la demanda de semillas se reduce de 150 kilogramos por hectárea a 30.

Para el primer año se prevén rendimientos de siete toneladas por hectárea y, a partir del segundo, aumentar a ocho.

Desde el pasado octubre se inició en Cuba un modelo experimental con la siembra de una semilla híbrida de arroz –importada de Vietnam– en más de 15.000 ha en diversas regiones de la Isla, con el fin de incrementar la producción y mejorar el rendimiento, que desde hace varios años se han visto menguado.
