Francisco Armando Rodríguez Blanco. mas conocido como Armando Roblán, fue actor y escritor, conocido por su extensa trayectoria en teatro, radio y televisión en Cuba y Miami, era reconocido por su extraordinaria imitación de Fidel Castro. Uno de sus éxitos fue mantener en cartelera la comedia “En los 90, Fidel revienta” en un teatro local durante más de una década.
Desde temprana edad demostró talento natural hacia el dibujo y la actuación. Al terminar en la escuela superior, se matriculó en la Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes de San Alejandro donde estudió pintura y escultura.
En Bejucal inició su carrera artística como aficionado, en una compañía en la que hacía desde tramoyista hasta de primer actor. El 4 de diciembre de 1950, se presentó como aficionado, haciendo caricaturas e imitando los personajes dibujados, y triunfó en el programa “Buscando estrellas”, en “Escuela de Televisión” que conducía el gran Gaspar Pumarejo, quien llevó la televisión a Cuba, inaugurando el Canal 4.
Empezó a trabajar como actor cómico en el programa de los divertidos payasos españoles Gabi, Fofó y Milique, luego con los llamados Ases de la risa, Garrido y Piñeiro, en el espacio televisivo Teatro Polar y solidificó su carrera actuando en las principales emisoras radiales y televisivas de la capital que animaba y dirigía Rosendo Rosell.
En todos esos años hizo tanto de actor cómico como dramático. Y siguió dibujando caricaturas frente a las cámaras de televisión. En el Canal 2, TV Telemundo, en 1953 ya tenía su propio programa “El show de Roblán”. El teatro también lo cautivó y actuó en salas tanto de La Habana, como del interior de la República.
Ya era un artista famoso cuando tomó camino del exilio en 1961. Residió en Panamá, Puerto Rico y Texas, siempre buscándose la vida con su arte y talento, hasta que finalmente escogió vivir permanentemente en Miami, a falta de Cuba. Ha llevado su trabajo de dibujante a la par de la actuación. Participó en la fundación de la TV de Panamá, trabajando en la primera Telenovela producida en ese país llamada “La esquina del infierno” en 1963. Personificó a Jesús en el Teatro Nacional durante la Semana Santa del año 1965. Roblán dejó huellas en la niñez panameña que lo recuerda por la originalidad de sus programas y el profesionalismo puesto en ellos.
Trabajó para Sábado Gigante y en televisión Martí, donde escribió y actuó en programas transmitidos a Cuba. En Miami, hizo temporadas de teatro popular en salas como el Teatro Martí, el Manuel Artime, el Roxy, el Trail, Bellas Artes, donde se presentaba la compañía Pro Teatro Bufo. Su parodia de Fidel Castro ha sido mundialmente famosa, ningún otro actor ha podido lograr una personificación tan parecida y genial como la de Roblán. Roblán dedicó ahora su tiempo a la pintura y a su familia.
El actor cubano Armando Roblan murió de lymphoma en su casa de Coral Gables, FLorida el 9 de Enero de 2013. Tenia 81 años.

Francisco Armando Rodríguez Blanco, better known as Armando Roblán, was an actor and writer, known for his extensive career in theater, radio, and television in Cuba and Miami. He was renowned for his extraordinary impersonation of Fidel Castro. One of his successes was keeping the comedy “In the 90s, Fidel Explodes” running at a local theater for over a decade.
From an early age, he demonstrated a natural talent for drawing and acting. After finishing high school, he enrolled at the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied painting and sculpture.
In Bejucal, he began his artistic career as an amateur, working with a theater company where he did everything from stagehand to lead actor. On December 4, 1950, he debuted as an amateur, drawing caricatures and imitating the characters he drew, and triumphed on the program “Searching for Stars” on “Television School,” hosted by the great Gaspar Pumarejo, who brought television to Cuba, inaugurating Channel 4.
He began working as a comedic actor on the program of the hilarious Spanish clowns Gabi, Fofó, and Milique, then with the so-called Aces of Laughter, Garrido and Piñeiro, on the television program “Teatro Polar,” and solidified his career performing on the main radio and television stations in the capital, which were hosted and directed by Rosendo Rosell.
Throughout those years, he worked as both a comedic and dramatic actor. And he continued drawing caricatures in front of the television cameras. On Channel 2, TV Telemundo, in 1953, he already had his own program, “The Roblán Show.” The theater also captivated him, and he performed in theaters both in Havana and throughout the rest of the country.
He was already a famous artist when he went into exile in 1961. He lived in Panama, Puerto Rico, and Texas, always making a living with his art and talent, until he finally chose to live permanently in Miami, unable to return to Cuba. He has combined his work as an illustrator with his acting career. He participated in the founding of Panamanian television, working on the first telenovela produced in that country, “La esquina del infierno” (The Corner of Hell), in 1963. He portrayed Jesus at the National Theater during Holy Week in 1965. Roblán left a lasting impression on Panamanian children, who remember him for the originality of his programs and the professionalism he brought to them.
He worked for Sábado Gigante and on TV Martí, where he wrote and acted in programs broadcast to Cuba. In Miami, he performed in popular theater shows at venues such as the Teatro Martí, the Manuel Artime, the Roxy, the Trail, and Bellas Artes, where the Pro Teatro Bufo company performed. His parody of Fidel Castro became world-famous; no other actor has been able to achieve such a similar and brilliant portrayal as Roblán’s. Roblán then dedicated his time to painting and his family.
The Cuban actor Armando Roblán died of lymphoma at his home in Coral Gables, Florida, on January 9, 2013. He was 81 years old.
