Pedro Buenaventura Jesús del Junco-Redondas, más conocido como Pedro Junco, fue un compositor cubano reconocido por boleros como ‘Estoy triste’, ‘Soy como soy’, ‘Me lo dijo el mar’, ‘Quisiera’, ‘Tus ojos’, y ‘Nosotros’, la última la canción que lo inmortalizó.
Pedro Junco, el primogénito de la unión de Pedro Nicolás del Junco-Valdés y María Regla Redondas-Ríos, nació el 22 de febrero de 1920 en la provincia de Pinar del Río.
El insigne músico estudió piano junto con Estrella Pintado, y más adelante se matriculó en una filial del Conservatorio Orbón de su tierra natal. Nosotros es un testimonio de amor y despedida, expresión de un amor real pero ya imposible por la cercanía de la muerte.
Pedro Junco falleció el 25 de abril de 1943, con 23 años de edad.
Un Viaje a la memoria de un Artista
Desde que Pedro Junco dio vida a Nosotros, la melodía ha sido cantada por un sinfín de artistas de Cuba y de otras partes del mundo, entre ellos Sara Montiel, Plácido Domingo y Luis Miguel.
Según Aldo Martínez Malo, autor del libro Pedro Junco-Viaje A La Memoria, en abril de 1943 al popular cantante se le diagnosticó tuberculosis, que en esa época era una enfermedad mortal.
El 25 de ese mes, aproximadamente a las 10 de la noche, el artista escuchó el estreno radial de su canción Soy como soy, que interpretó el tenor René Cabel.
Algunos minutos más tarde dio su último suspiro, dejando inconsolable a una multitud de admiradores de sus inolvidables boleros, entre ellos a María Victoria Mora Morales, musa inspiradora de ‘Nosotros’.
Para Martínez Malo, Nosotros es la más famosa de las canciones de Pedrito, Tus ojos la más bonita y Estoy triste la más compleja.
Luego de muchos años de la desaparición física de Pedro Junco, acaecida el 25 de abril de 1943, se conoció que la musa inspiradora de Nosotros fue María Victoria Mora Morales.
Según las fuentes consultadas, aunque los amores de Pedro Junco son célebres, él solo tuvo una novia. Ella fue María Victoria Mora Morales, natural de San Juan y Martínez, y cuentan los testigos de la época que lo de Pedro y María Victoria fue un amor a primera vista.
Cuando se conocieron, comenzó a tejerse una historia de amor llena de sentimientos, deseos, inspiración, poesía, y sobre todo, de música.
Ella lo amó desde el primer instante y él se enamoró perdidamente de ella, y le dedicó las más hermosas melodías de su tiempo. La joven alta, elegante y muy bella y Pedro tuvieron un romance que solo la muerte del compositor pudo poner fin.
