El cha-cha-chá es un género de música cubana. Es un estilo de música bailable que se desarrolló a partir del danzón-mambo a principios de la década de 1950 y se popularizó ampliamente en todo el mundo.
La creación del cha-cha-chá se ha atribuido tradicionalmente al compositor y violinista cubano Enrique Jorrín, quien comenzó su carrera tocando en la orquesta de charanga Orquesta América.
Enrique Jorrín nació en Candelaria, Pinar del Río, 25 de diciembre de 1926 fue un compositor violinista cubano y director de la banda.
CARRERA ARTISTICA
A temprana edad, su familia se mudó a la barriada del Cerro de La Habana, donde Jorrín era vivir por el resto de su vida. A la edad de 12 años, comenzó a mostrar un interés especial en la música y decidió aprender el violín. Luego cursó estudios musicales en el Conservatorio Municipal de La Habana.
Comenzó como violinista en la orquesta de la Nacional de Cuba, Instituto de Música, bajo la dirección de González Mantici. En 1941, se convirtió en miembro de los Hermanos Contreras Danzonera. Fue aquí donde empezó a interesarse en la música popular. A continuación, se unió a los famosos charanga Antonio Arcaño Y SUS Maravillas.
En la década de 1950, mientras que un miembro de la Orquesta América de Ninón Mondéjar, creó un nuevo género de música de baile que se conocía como el cha-cha-chá.
En 1948, el Cha Cha Cha nació con melodías para bailar y bien equilibrado. El nombre de Cha Cha Cha sugiere los tres pasos a seguir e bailó la melodía. Normalmente se juega por una charanga que contiene flauta, violines y percusión, o por una orquesta típica.
Enrique Jorrín primera Cha Cha Cha, es el dedicado a esa chica en la esquina céntrica de Prado y Neptuno, y todos los hombres tenían que mirarla (La engañadora, 1951). La hermosa dama, un personaje de la vida real, era tan voluptuosa, debido a las almohadas que se utilizan para poner debajo de sus ropas … “las mujeres tontas que tratan de engañarnos”, dice el coro en el silencio instrumental. Como autores importantes que tenemos Pedro Junco, Enriquillo Cerón, Isabelita Serpa, Ruddy Calzado, Jorge Zamora, Félix Reyna, Chucho Martínez Gil, Richard Egües y Frank Pérez, entre otros.
Vivió en México desde 1954 a 1958. En 1964, realiza una gira por África y Europa con su orquesta, Orquesta Jorrín de Enrique. A partir de 1964, grabó extensivamente para el sello discográfico EGREM de Cuba.
En 1974, organizó una nueva charanga, que incluía el cantante Tito Gómez y el pianista Rubén González. Esta orquesta se mantiene activo en La Habana e incluye muchas canciones de Jorrín en su repertorio activo. En una ocasión, el compositor Leo Brouwer expresó que “La música pop no era más que Cha Cha Cha con la batería, el esclarecimiento de su opinión acerca de la influencia de este género cubano a otros ritmos universales.
Todos sus logros se cumplieron a la vez que elevar su sobrino Omar Pineda Jorrín, quien creció tocando el piano para la orquesta a medida que envejecía. Omar Pineda Jorrín actualmente reside en una pequeña comunidad cubana en Nueva Jersey, conocido por ser la ciudad de la Unión.
Enrique Jorrín murió en La Habana, 12 de diciembre de 1987.

Enrique Jorrín born in Candelaria, Pinar del Río, December 25, 1926 was a Cuban composer, violinist and band director.
He is famous as the inventor of a style of Cuban dance music called cha-cha-chá.
At an early age, his family moved to the El Cerro neighborhood of Havana, where Jorrín was to live for the rest of his life. At the age of 12, he began to show a particular interest in music and decided to learn the violin. He then pursued musical studies at the Municipal Conservatory of Havana.
He started out as a violinist in the orchestra of Cuba’s National Institute of Music, under the direction of González Mántici. In 1941, he became a member of the danzonera Hermanos Contreras. It was here that he became interested in popular music. Next, he joined the renowned charanga Antonio Arcaño y sus Maravillas.
In the early 1950s, while a member of Ninón Mondéjar’s Orquesta América, he created a new genre of dance music which became known as the cha-cha-chá.
In 1948, the Cha Cha Cha was born with melodies to dance and well balanced. The name Cha Cha Cha suggests the three steps that have to e danced to follow the melody. It is normally played by a charanga that contains flute, violins and percussion, or by a typical orchestra.
Enrique Jorrin first Cha Cha Cha, is the one dedicated to that girl in the centric corner of Prado and Neptuno, and all men had to look at her (La Engañadora, 1951). The beautiful lady, a real life character, was so voluptuous due to the pillows she used to put under her cloths… “Foolish women that try to cheat us”; the chorus says in the instrumental silence. As important authors we have Pedro Junco, Enriquillo Cerón, Isabelita Serpa, Ruddy Calzado, Jorge Zamora, Felix Reyna, Chucho Martinez Gil, Richard Egües y Frank Perez, among others.
He lived in Mexico from 1954 to 1958. In 1964, he toured Africa and Europe with his orchestra- Orquesta de Enrique Jorrín. From 1964 onwards, he recorded extensively for the Cuban record label EGREM.
In 1974, he organized a new charanga, which included singer Tito Gómez and pianist Rubén González. All his accomplishments were all fulfilled while raising his nephew Omar Jorrin Pineda, who grew up playing the piano for the orchestra as he got older. Omar Jorrin Pineda currently resides in a small Cuban community in New Jersey known to be Union City.
Enrique Jorrin died in Havana, December 12, 1987.
