Andrés Arturo García Menéndez es un actor, director, productor y músico cubanoamericano.

Nació en La Habana el 12 de abril de 1956.

Se dio a conocer inicialmente actuando en Los Intocables (1987), de Brian De Palma, junto a Kevin Costner, Sean Connery y Robert De Niro. Continuó actuando en películas como Stand and Deliver (1988) y Asuntos Internos (1990). Posteriormente, coprotagonizó El Padrino III (1990), de Francis Ford Coppola, como Vincent Mancini, por la que fue nominado al Óscar a Mejor Actor de Reparto.

Continuó actuando en películas de Hollywood como Hero (1992) de Stephen Frears, el drama romántico When a Man Loves a Woman (1994) y el thriller de acción Desperate Measures (1998). En 2000, produjo y actuó en la película para televisión de HBO, For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story (2000), donde recibió nominaciones a los premios Primetime Emmy y Globo de Oro. También protagonizó Ocean’s Eleven (2001) de Steven Soderbergh y sus secuelas, Ocean’s Twelve (2004) y Ocean’s Thirteen (2007). En 2005, García dirigió y protagonizó la película The Lost City junto a Dustin Hoffman y Bill Murray. También protagonizó New York, I Love You (2008), la comedia dramática City Island (2009), la comedia romántica At Middleton (2013) y el thriller policial Kill the Messenger (2014). VIDA PERSONAL
García conoció a su actual esposa, Marivi Lorido, cuando ambos estudiaban en la Universidad Internacional de Florida a mediados de los 70, cuando se vieron por primera vez en un club nocturno de Miami. La pareja salió durante siete años antes de casarse el 24 de septiembre de 1982. Pasaron su luna de miel en España. La familia divide su tiempo entre Toluca Lake, Los Ángeles, y Key Biscayne, Florida.

Tienen cuatro hijos: Dominik García-Lorido, Daniella, Alessandra y Andrés. Dominik nació el 16 de agosto de 1983 en Miami, Florida. Está casada con Michael Doneger. Daniella nació el 3 de enero de 1988 en Los Ángeles, California. Está casada con el actor Stephen Borrello y la pareja tiene una hija llamada Violette Rose. Alessandra nació el 20 de junio de 1991 en Los Ángeles. Su cuarto hijo y único varón, Andrés, es un DJ consolidado en Los Ángeles y Miami.

García ha expresado con frecuencia su desagrado por el régimen comunista que ha gobernado Cuba desde la revolución. Tras la muerte de Fidel Castro en noviembre de 2016, García criticó su legado, declarando: “Es necesario que exprese el profundo pesar que siento por todo el pueblo cubano… que ha sufrido las atrocidades y la represión causadas por Fidel Castro y su régimen totalitario”.

Andrés Arturo García Menéndez is a Cuban-American actor, director, producer, and musician.

He was born in Havana on April 12, 1956.

He first rose to prominence acting in Brian De Palma’s The Untouchables (1987) alongside Kevin Costner, Sean Connery, and Robert De Niro. He continued to act in films such as Stand and Deliver (1988), and Internal Affairs (1990). He then co-starred in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather Part III (1990) as Vincent Mancini, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

He continued to act in Hollywood films such as Stephen Frears’ Hero (1992), the romantic drama When a Man Loves a Woman (1994), and the action thriller Desperate Measures (1998). In 2000, he produced and acted in the HBO television film, For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story (2000), where he received a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award nominations. He also starred in Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven (2001) and its sequels, Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007). In 2005, García directed and starred in the film The Lost City alongside Dustin Hoffman and Bill Murray. He also starred in New York, I Love You (2008), the dramedy City Island (2009), the romantic comedy At Middleton (2013), and the crime thriller Kill the Messenger (2014). He has had supporting roles in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Book Club, The Mule, the HBO television movie My Dinner with Hervé (all 2018), and the title role in the Father of the Bride remake (2022).

In 2005, he won both a Grammy and a Latin Grammy Award for producing Cuban musician Cachao’s record ¡Ahora Sí!.

PERSONAL LIFE
Garcia met his now wife, Marivi Lorido, when they were both students at Florida International University during the mid-’70s when they first saw each other in a Miami nightclub. The couple dated for seven years before tying the knot on September 24, 1982. They had their honeymoon in Spain. The family divides their time between Toluca Lake, Los Angeles and Key Biscayne, Florida.

They have four children: Dominik García-Lorido, Daniella, Alessandra, and Andrés. Dominik was born on August 16, 1983, in Miami, Florida. She is married to Michael Doneger. Daniella was born on January 3, 1988, in Los Angeles, California. She is married to actor Stephen Borrello and the couple has a daughter named Violette Rose. Alessandra was born on June 20, 1991, in Los Angeles. The fourth child and only son, Andres,me an established DJ across Los Angeles and Miami.

García has often expressed his distaste for the communist regime that has ruled Cuba since the revolution. Following Fidel Castro’s death in November 2016, García criticized his legacy, stating: “It is necessary for me to express the deep sorrow that I feel for all the Cuban people…that have suffered the atrocities and repression caused by Fidel Castro and his totalitarian regime.”

In 2018, García attended a fundraiser event for Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, which raised $60 million. Following the October 7 Hamas-led attack on Israel in 2023 that killed 1,200, García signed an open letter by Creative Community for Peace condemning the killings and calling for the world to “stand with Israel as it defends itself against a terrorist regime in Gaza that seeks Israel’s destruction.”

García is Catholic, and a naturalized citizen of the United States.
