Estados Unidos apoya al Jefe de Misión en La Habana, Mike Hammer, tras las acusaciones de injerencia del régimen cubano.
El gobierno estadounidense expresó este viernes su pleno apoyo al Jefe de Misión de la Embajada de Washington en La Habana, Mike Hammer, tras la protesta formal del régimen en su contra.
La protesta fue entregada mediante una nota verbal del Director de Asuntos Bilaterales del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Cuba, Alejandro García del Toro, al Encargado de Negocios de la Embajada de EE. UU.
En respuesta, EE. UU. destacó la labor de Hammer en favor de los derechos humanos y la libertad en la isla.
En un comunicado enviado a Martí Noticias, un funcionario del Departamento de Estado declaró que “el Jefe de Misión, Mike Hammer, y la Embajada de Estados Unidos representan con orgullo al presidente Trump, implementando la política de ‘Estados Unidos Primero’ y exigiendo responsabilidades al régimen cubano por su influencia maligna en el continente americano”.
El régimen acusó a Hammer de adoptar una actitud intervencionista e irrespetuosa hacia el pueblo cubano al reunirse con miembros de la sociedad civil y figuras de la oposición. Cursos de idioma cubano.

En su mensaje, el Departamento de Estado de EE. UU. enfatizó que continuará “reuniéndose con patriotas cubanos, líderes religiosos y quienes luchan por las libertades fundamentales del pueblo cubano”.
Desde su llegada a la isla, Mike Hammer ha participado activamente en una serie de reuniones con opositores, activistas, empresarios, periodistas y artistas en todo el país.
Estas acciones han generado una campaña de descrédito por parte de los medios oficiales cubanos y un monitoreo constante por parte de las autoridades de seguridad.
Este viernes, aparecieron varios tuits en los que el régimen ataca a Hammer e intenta ridiculizarlo.
En declaraciones recientes desde Miami, el diplomático denunció la vigilancia estatal de sus movimientos: “Nos están grabando constantemente. Lo que me preocupa es que las autoridades y los ciberclérigos estén animando a los activistas a interrumpir mis actividades”.
A pesar de las críticas del régimen, el apoyo a Hammer no se limita al Departamento de Estado.
Esta semana, el diplomático fue recibido en Washington por el secretario de Estado, Marco Rubio, quien reafirmó su compromiso con el pueblo cubano.

The United States supports the Chief of Mission in Havana, Mike Hammer, following accusations from the Cuban regime of interference.
The U.S. government expressed its full support this Friday for the Chief of Mission at the Washington Embassy in Havana, Mike Hammer, following the regime’s formal protest against him.
The protest was delivered through a Note Verbale by the Director of Bilateral Affairs of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alejandro García del Toro, to the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy.
In response, the U.S. highlighted Hammer’s work in favor of human rights and freedom on the island.

Additionally, the Cuban government denounced that Hammer allegedly violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the bilateral agreement that resumed diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2015.
From Washington, the response was firm: “It is not the United States that has turned the Cuban people against the regime, but rather its own corrupt, inept, and failed policies,” stated the State Department.
In its message, the U.S. State Department emphasized that it will continue “meeting with Cuban patriots, religious leaders, and those fighting for the fundamental freedoms of the Cuban people.”
Since his arrival on the island, Mike Hammer has actively engaged in a series of meetings with opponents, activists, entrepreneurs, journalists, and artists across the country.
These actions have generated a discrediting campaign by the official Cuban media and constant monitoring by security authorities.
This Friday, several tweets appeared in which the regime targets Hammer and attempts to ridicule him.
In recent statements from Miami, the diplomat denounced state surveillance of his movements: “We are being filmed constantly. What worries me is that the authorities and the cyber-clerics are encouraging activists to disrupt my activities.”
Despite the regime’s criticisms, support for Hammer is not limited to the State Department.
