Rubén Cortada es uno de los actores más solicitados por las cámaras y los periodistas en España, donde reside y trabaja desde hace años.
Se graduó de Bachiller en la Escuela Vocacional Vladimir Ilich Lenin, conocida popularmente como ‘La Lenin’. Posteriormente, en 2003 ingresó en Ingeniería Automática en la Universidad Cujae, aunque no terminó sus estudios en la Escuela Secundaria Técnica José Antonio Echeverría de La Habana. Comenzó su carrera internacional como modelo.
Compitió en tenis hasta los quince años.
Sus primeras experiencias como actor fueron dos obras en Cuba a las órdenes de Humberto Rodríguez. Después se formó con el maestro argentino Fernando Piernas (gambe).
Este actor cubano, que nunca ha perdido su vínculo con la isla, fue uno de los protagonistas de la exitosa serie española El príncipe, interpretando a Faruq Ben Barek, un complejo personaje de origen árabe. Con su particular voz de galán y su potente mirada felina, Cortada ha conquistado los corazones de los españoles con sus interpretaciones y su extraordinario atractivo físico.
Nacido en la Isla de la Juventud de Cuba el 6 de octubre de 1984, ha sido imagen de prestigiosas marcas como Roberto Verino, Jean Paul Gaultier, Guess, Julipet o Custo Barcelona, y ha desfilado por las principales pasarelas del mundo (Milán, París y Nueva York).
Como actor, en su currículum destacan las series de televisión Bandolera (2011), El tiempo entre costuras (2013) y El príncipe (2014), que le han convertido en una estrella de la televisión española. Lo describen como tímido y reservado, y de hecho nos pidió que no habláramos de su vida privada, porque cree que “eso es asunto de cada persona y de cualquier persona a la que quiera involucrar, sin importar a qué se dedique. La privacidad es una de las cosas más importantes para el ser humano, y yo trato de respetar la privacidad de los demás”.
Se describe a sí mismo como un actor curioso, porque le encanta aprender e investigar, y no suele conceder muchas entrevistas.
