El actor cubanoamericano William Gutiérrez-Levy, conocido en el mundo artístico sólo como William Levy regresa a la pantalla chica de la televisión latinoamericana como Santiago en el drama “Vuelve a mi” protagonizando a Santiago en esta nueva Telenovela de Telemundo.

Levy que nació el 29 de agosto de 1980 en la ciudad costera de Cojímar, Cuba y emigró a Miami, Florida cuando tenía 14 años. Después de asistir a la escuela secundaria, estudió administración de empresas con una beca de béisbol en la Universidad St. Thomas durante dos años. Posteriormente fue a Los Ángeles para estudiar actuación y continuó sus estudios de actuación en Miami y Ciudad de México.

Para sus avances a principios de este año, Telemundo anunció que William Levy se uniría a su lista de estrellas en la nueva serie romántica original “Vuelve a Mi”. El estreno del programa fue el 9 de octubre.

En “Vuelve a Mí”, Levy es Santiago, cuyo interés amoroso es la actriz Samadhi Zendejas, en su primer papel protagónico como Nuria.

El drama, ambientado en Ciudad de Juárez y Ciudad de México, sigue a Nuria, una mujer de recursos humildes, que inicia una relación con Braulio (Ferdinando Valencia) sin saber que él es uno de los dueños de la empresa donde trabaja para mantener a su hijo. y hermana. Las vidas de los personajes principales comienzan a entrelazarse tras el trágico secuestro del hijo de Nuria, Andrés. Y cuando menos lo espera, Santiago (Levy) entra en su vida para convertirse en el gran amor de su vida y el pilar que mantiene viva su esperanza.

“Vuelve a Mí”, producida por Telemundo Global Studios en los estudios de Telemundo Center en Miami, también está protagonizada por Laura Flores, Christian de la Campa, Rodolfo Salas, Geraldine Galván, Amaranta Ruíz, Christian Ramos, Anthony Álvarez, Anna Sobero, Ariana Saavedra, con participaciones especiales de Fernando Ciangherotti y Diego Klein, y André Sebastián.

Esta historia original está escrita por Sergio Mendoza y Amaris Paez, y dirigida por Danny Gavidia, Felipe Aguilar y Uandari Gómez. La dirección de fotografía corre a cargo de Damián Aguilar y José Velarde, con Pedro De Larrechea como diseñador de producción. In “Vuelve a Mí”, Levy is Santiago, whose love interest is actress Samadhi Zendejas, in her first leading role as Nuria.

ACELERA EL DOLLAR A NUEVO RECORD EN EL MERCADO INFORMAL CUBANO. PHOTOS

El mercado de divisas da señales de nueva avidez por el dólar, impulsada por un repunte en la crisis migratoria cubana. El dólar estadounidense (USD) registró un nuevo récord este sábado al aumentar dos puntos en el mercado informal cubano.

Con este incremento, el valor de la divisa del “enemigo” alcanzó los 252 pesos cubanos (CUP), estableciendo un nuevo récord desde que alcanzara su máximo histórico de 250 pesos a mediados de agosto.

El hecho patentiza la grave crisis que aqueja a la moneda nacional, que viene hundiéndose desde hace meses en el abismo de la devaluación, a pesar de momentáneos descensos de su cotización, o períodos de relativa “estabilidad”.

El medio independiente El TOQUE, que elabora las tasas de referencia que se manejan en el mercado negro cubano, recoge ventas de hasta 253 CUP por dólar estadounidense, un indicador de que su cotización podría seguir subiendo en los próximos días.

OTRAS ALZAS EN EL MERCADO INFORMAL CUBANO

Este sábado subió también el valor del MLC, que escaló dos puntos en el mercado informal cubano para situarse en los 230 CUP, rompiendo también el máximo alcanzado hasta la fecha, que fue de 228 el pasado 19 de octubre.

Por su parte, el euro se mantuvo en los 260 CUP, un valor récord registrado a comienzos de mes, concretamente el pasado 4 de octubre.

El precio de las divisas de referencia en el mercado negro cubano estuvo al alza en todo julio y buena parte de agosto. No obstante, a finales de agosto las tres monedas comenzaron a bajar, poniendo en evidencia la inestabilidad del mercado informal de compra y venta de divisas.

Tras casi dos semanas en que se frenó la devaluación del peso cubano en el mercado informal, el mes pasado se inició un proceso de recuperación que continúa marcando un preocupante ascenso en medio de un repunte de la crisis migratoria cubana.

La tasa de referencia del citado medio independiente se elabora tras analizar todos los anuncios de compra y venta publicados en redes sociales y sitios web de clasificados. Con ese resultado se establece un precio que sirve para conocer los valores de las principales divisas que circulan en el país.

ESCONDIDO EN LA HISTORIA DE CUBA: ALEJO CARPENTIER Y LA FAMILIA BACARDI. PHOTOS

El 15 de marzo de 1928, Alejo Carpentier zarpó de La Habana rumbo a París en el trasatlántico España, el mismo barco donde viajaba el poeta surrealista Robert Desnos. La decisión de abandonar la isla era una salida comprensible, luego de los problemas de acreditación de su ciudadanía de los que surgió su insistencia en repetir la mentira de su nacimiento en la calle Maloja en La Habana.

Once días después de dejar atrás una etapa de vertiginoso ajetreo en las páginas de los principales periódicos habaneros, compromiso con la vanguardia artística cubana y una precaria situación económica tras el abandono del padre y la hecatombe familiar, el joven Carpentier escribe la primera carta a su madre a punto de arribar al puerto de La Coruña, al parecer en la primera escala de la travesía.

Era apenas el preámbulo de una larga correspondencia con Lina Valmont, recogida en Cartas a Toutuche (Editorial Letras Cubanas, 2010), un libro imprescindible para comprender la conducta y la obra posterior del escritor.

La carta que que es la única que se conserva como relato del viaje en el España, de manera que, como en otros episodios de su vida, no debe descartarse que la proverbial fabulación del cronista haya permeado también los pormenores del relato. Más que un documento con información reveladora, se trata de una curiosidad, marcada con el presunto encuentro entre Carpentier y un miembro ilustre de la familia Bacardí a bordo. En esta relata de la posible ayuda que un millonario cubano le ofreció para sufragar parte de sus gastos en la capital de Francia.

EN PROMESAS DE AYUDA

De acuerdo con la información disponible, el probable interlocutor era Emilio Bacardí y Lay, hijo del escritor Emilio Bacardí y Moreau y lugarteniente de Antonio Maceo durante la última guerra de independencia (1895-1898). ¿Cierto o no que el acaudalado pasajero le prometió ayuda al joven periodista de 22 años para su incierta estancia en París? ¿O estamos ante otro capítulo de la novela que tejió Carpentier en torno a sus andanzas y deslumbramientos con el universo artístico de la ciudad donde permaneció hasta el estallido de la II Guerra Mundial?

Evidentemente, Carpentier se vería necesitado en sus primeros años de vida parisina, obligado a mantener el envío de colaboraciones a las revistas cubanas Social y Carteles, y ahorrar hasta el último centavo para sostener las modestas remesas a la madre, mientras transcurrían las promesas de un próximo reencuentro en La Habana o París. Sin embargo, no habrá ninguna otra mención al millonario de Bacardí ni a su ayuda presumiblemente prometida y que le ayudara en su estancia en la capital francesa.

La misiva del “maravilloso viaje” hace también alusión al manuscrito de !Ecué Yamba-O! que Carpentier cargó en su equipaje y pretendía presentar a Kra y Flammarion, dos prestigiosas casas editoriales francesas. Pero a pesar de los augurios de éxito del viajero, la novela no se publicaría hasta 1933, en una edición española.

On March 15, 1928, Alejo Carpentier set sail from Havana for Paris on the ocean liner España, the same ship where the surrealist poet Robert Desnos was traveling. The decision to leave the island was an understandable decision, after the problems of accreditation of his citizenship from which arose his insistence on repeating the lie of his birth on Maloja Street in Havana.

Eleven days after leaving behind a period of dizzying hustle and bustle in the pages of the main Havana newspapers, commitment to the Cuban artistic avant-garde and a precarious economic situation after the abandonment of his father and the family catastrophe, the young Carpentier writes his first letter to his mother about to arrive at the port of La Coruña, apparently on the first stop of the voyage.
