Cuba vive el mayor éxodo de su historia. Numerosos migrantes de la Isla han usado en los pasados dos años a la República Dominicana como puente para tratar de llegar a Centroamérica, mientras que otra cantidad hace turismo de compras en ese país. Hoy, en un acuerdo bilateral entre las dos naciones permitiría que al cierre de 2023 sean transportados 36.000 pasajeros entre ambas naciones vecinas.
LAS AUTORIDADES de la aviación civil de República Dominicana y Cuba anunciaron que pronto aumentará el número de vuelos entre ambos países vecinos, luego de que las normativas vigentes para las aerolíneas fueran modificadas.
De acuerdo con el reporte de Diario libre, el presidente de la Junta de Aviación Civil dominicana, José Ernesto Marte Piantini, y el del Instituto de Aeronáutica Civil de Cuba, Armando Luis Daniel López, suscribieron el jueves un acuerdo que permitirá un mayor flujo de vuelos entre las islas.
Marte Piantini destacó que con el documento se actualizan las relaciones aerocomerciales entre Cuba y República Dominicana, permitiendo que “todas las aerolíneas nacionales puedan explotar servicios de transporte aéreo de pasajeros, equipaje y carga desde el territorio nacional hacia Cuba y viceversa”, anunció.
El acuerdo hasta ahora vigente entre los dos países solo permitía la designación de dos aerolíneas a cada país para operar vuelos.
Al inicio de la firma del protocolo, Marte Piantini indicó que el objetivo de actualizar el documento que estaba vigente desde hace 18 años es incrementar el flujo de pasajeros, el comercio, la conectividad y, consecuentemente, el transporte aéreo entre los territorios.
Agregó que “a partir de la firma se generan beneficios para los operadores aéreos que vuelen entre Cuba y República Dominicana, dos de las economías más importantes en el Caribe, que desde ahora acercan más su relación en materia de aviación comercial”.
En referencia a las frecuencias, el acuerdo precisa que pueden establecerse frecuencias ilimitadas, por lo que las las líneas aéreas dominicanas podrán incrementar sus frecuencias hacia el Aeropuerto Internacional José Martí, de La Habana.
En la firma del acuerdo estuvo presente además Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, ministro cubano de Transporte, y Juan Carlos Salazar, secretario general de la Organización de la Aviación Civil Internacional (OACI).
De acuerdo con la información suministrada por la División de Estadísticas del Departamento de Transporte Aéreo de la JAC dominicana, tras el acuerdo se prevé que al cierre de 2023 sean transportados 36.000 pasajeros entre Cuba y República Dominicana, un aumento del 32% en comparación con 2022.
Según los funcionarios, en los primeros cinco meses de 2023 se han transportado 11.000 pasajeros en vuelos comerciales desde y hacia Cuba.
Desde República Dominicana vuelan a Cuba Air Century, Sky High Aviation Services, Aerolíneas Argentinas y Fly All Ways.
