“Hoy encabezo una delegación bipartidista con la representante Jahana Hayes y el congresista Jim Baird a Cuba para estudiar el impacto de los productos básicos estadounidenses, reunirme con agricultores cubanos y discutir sobre temas agrícolas y otros relacionados con funcionarios locales”, apuntó en Twitter este sábado el representante demócrata por California, Salud Carbajal.
Carbajal, Hayes y Baird integran el Comité de Agricultura de la Cámara de Representantes y en esta visita evaluarán, además, las posibles áreas en las que pueden existir oportunidades de beneficio económico mutuo para las empresas estadounidenses y el pueblo cubano, sostiene este domingo Radio Televisión Martí.
La información de la visita de los congresistas fue compartida también por el Twitter de la Embajada de Estados Unidos en Cuba, en el que se destaca que el país norteño es uno de los mayores proveedores de productos agrícolas a la isla.
PRODUCTOS NORTEAMERICANOS EXPORTADOS A CUBA…
El citado medio recordó, pese al recurrente argumento del régimen de culpar al embargo de la crisis en la isla, que Estados Unidos tiene exenciones y autorizaciones relativas las exportaciones de alimentos, medicinas y otros bienes humanitarios para Cuba.
Según el consejero político de la Misión de EE.UU. ante Naciones Unidas, John Kelley, el pueblo de los Estados Unidos y las organizaciones estadounidenses donan una cantidad significativa de bienes humanitarios al pueblo cubano y Estados Unidos es uno de los principales socios comerciales de Cuba.
