Este año se anunció que Camila Cabello, Cimafunk, Arturo O’Farrill, Paquito D’Rivera y Arturo Sandoval eran los cubanos nominados a los Grammy 2023.

LOS CUBANOS vuelven a hacerse sentir en las nominaciones a los Premios Grammy que entrega la Academia Nacional de Artes y Ciencias de la Grabación de Estados Unidos, y en 2023 contarán con cinco destacados representantes de Cuba.
Según anunció la institución, la 65 edición de los prestigiosos premios trae a viejos conocidos, como Camila Cabello, quien fue nominada en la categoría de Mejor Canción Pop Dúo/Grupo por su dueto con Ed Sheeran “Bam Bam”, donde compite con la colaboración entre Coldplay y los surcoreanos BTS, el regreso del grupo Abba, entre otros candidatos.
En el apartado de Mejor Álbum de Rock Latino o Alternativo, el pinareño Cimafunk se coló con su disco La comida. Allí la competencia es con verdaderas leyendas, como Fito Páez, nominado por los años salvajes, y figuras con mucha pegada comercial, como Rosalía (motomami), así como el uruguayo Jorge Drexler (tinta y tiempo); la chileno-mexicana Mon Laferté (1940 Carmen) y la guatemalteca Gaby Moreno (Alegoría).

En categorías donde hay músicos tradicionalmente cubanos, como es el caso de Mejor Álbum de Jazz Latino, el trompetista cubano Arturo Sandoval figura en Rhythm&Souland y en el de Mejor composición instrumental está el saxofonista y clarinetista Paquito D’Rivera con “African Tales”.
En abril de 2022, tres músicos cubanos, de seis posibles, obtuvieron el gramófono de oro: Chucho Valdés, Gonzalo Rubalcaba y Alex Cuba.
Los nominados a los Grammy 2023, anunciados el martes, tenían a Beyoncé como la artista más mencionada, con nueve nominaciones, seguida de Kendrick Lamar, con ocho, y Adele y Brandi Carlile, con siete respectivamente.
Para esta edición, además de las categorías habituales, la Academia de la Grabación presentó cinco nuevos premios: Compositor del Año, No Clásico; Mejor Interpretación de Música Alternativa; Mejor Interpretación de Música Estadounidense; Mejor Banda Sonora de Videojuegos y Otros Medios Interactivos y Mejor Álbum de Poesía Hablada.
Además, habrá un premio especial al mérito, titulado Mejor Canción para el Cambio Social.
La ceremonia de entrega de premios tendrá lugar en el Crypto.com Arena de Los Ángeles, California, el 5 de febrero de 2023.
