TRAFFICKER OF CUBAN MIGRANTS IN MEXICO IS TRIALED IN THE US.
secuestro-740x416

“El Chupa” kidnapper of Cuban migrants is tried in federal court of the United States. For kidnapping, torturing and extorting Cuban migrants, the human smuggler José Miguel González, known as “El Chupa,” had his first hearing before a federal court in South Florida.

The North American channel Telemundo reported that among the evidence presented in court is the testimony of a person from the island who paid $ 3,000 to get to the United States but ended up being a victim of said crimes.

The federal investigation against the detainee also found that he had his mother and partner as accomplices who were in charge of collecting extortion money from relatives of the kidnapped. The victim recounted in his testimony that Mexico arrived in a boat with 16 other migrants and they were received by men armed with machetes who covered their faces to mobilize them to a place called “La Finca”.

Families were asked for a ransom of $ 10,000 and to cause further concern they were sent photographs and videos of the abductees being electrocuted or beaten.

The document also mentions cases of rape and after paying this amount, the migrants were put on a bus heading to the northern border to request political asylum.

SMUGGLING OF CUBAN BALL PLAYERS.

The investigations, for the moment, also link José Miguel with an organized crime network that carried out illegal smuggling of Cuban players, including Yasiel Puig and Raisel Iglesias.

Last January, the leader of this network, George Ferrer Sánchez, was sentenced to 9 years in prison for trafficking people between January 2009 and June 2015 using stolen boats.

Ferrer was also accused of money laundering and for all this, a fine of 5.4 million dollars was imposed in addition to two properties confiscated in the United States. Last September the arrest of the traffickers Reynaldo Márquez Crespo, 41, and Jancer Sergio Ramos Valdés, 33, were accused of the same causes of extortion, torture, and smuggling of Cuban migrants, they are also related to the case of “El Chupa”.

The criminals, arrested in Texas and Connecticut to be tried in South Florida, testified before authorities that they were deceiving the migrants by telling them that they were going to take them to the United States but instead were moving them to the Yucatan Peninsula.

They also said that they were locked up in a house in the city of Mérida, where, in 2019, there was a joint operation between the FBI, the National Migration Institute, the Attorney General’s Office of Mexico, and the local police force to rescue kidnapped Cubans.

Sources close to the investigation assure that “El Chupa” is a member of “El Jabao”, an organized crime network that would have been responsible for the largest theft of gold in the history of Florida. Two leaders of that organization were jailed for the illegal smuggling of Cuban players, including Yasiel Puig and Raisel Iglesias.

THE ‘RED SUPREMACISTS’ in Cuba, consider Themselves the Only Heirs of Patriotic Traditions. (Published in Cuba). * LOS “SUPREMASISTAS ROJOS” en Cuba, se consideran a si Mismos como los Únicos Herederos de Nuestras Tradiciones Patrioticas. (Publicado en Cuba).

tragicisland00irvi_0001LOS ‘SUPREMACISTAS ROJOS’ EN CUBA SE CONSIDERAN LOS UNICOS HEREDEROS DEL PATRIOTISMO.

tragicisland00irvi_0001THE ‘RED SUPREMACISTS’ IN CUBA CONSIDER THEMSELVES THE ONLY HEIRS OF PATRIOTIC TRADITIONS.
By Reinaldo Escobar, Havana, Cuba.

Although I collect dictionaries, I suffer from an incurable allergy to citing them, so I leave it to the readers to search, where they see fit (the RAE has not yet incorporated it), the meaning that the concept of “supremacist” has had since the last century.

In any case, I advance that someone may deserve that qualification when they believe that the group of people to which they belong should lead or have control over other groups of people because they think they are better. The word usually has a surname and the most used is “white” to refer to racists who consider blacks, Latinos, Jews, or humans of any other ethnic origin classified as “non-white” as inferior beings.

In Cuba, since the middle of the 20th century, the belief has been fostered that those who carry a red card in their pocket have the privilege of determining how the economy works, under what conditions it is allowed to associate, which trends of thought should be disseminated and which prohibited. They believe they have the right to decide who can travel abroad, who can be a university professor, journalist, or deputy to Parliament.

Communists, those who have a red card, consider themselves the sole heirs of the best patriotic traditions.

Communists, those who have a red card, consider themselves the sole heirs of the best patriotic traditions, those that were harvested since those who were born here discovered that they were Cubans and not Spaniard’s looters of an island in the Caribbean. It is true that then there were no communists and that is why a well-known official tongue twister was coined where it is established that those, today, would be like them and that they, then, would have been like those.

Unlike white supremacists, Reds are not frowned upon by the official media (where there are white supremacists there are no official media). Not only are they not punished by the laws, but they also enjoy an article in the Constitution that gives them the status of being “the superior leading political force of society and the State.” If they had spared the term “superior” it would not be so easy to mark them here as supremacists.

Historically supremacisms end badly. This is how it was in Nazi Germany when those who believed themselves Aryans tried to annihilate those who were leftover; This is how it was in Rwanda when the Tutsi population was almost exterminated by the Hutus; This is the case in the Arab world where the bloody differences between Shiites and Sunnis are based on the dispute over the inheritance of the Prophet Muhammad.

While the supremacists feel predominant and the led silently obey, the imposed authority is exercised under a cloak of paternalistic nobility; But it is enough for a couple of voices to clash in the chorus of the feigned assents for the despotic anger of those who claim a superiority that only works when it is unappealable is shown in all its fierceness.

Today in Cuba we are seeing that anger, the daughter of a supposed class hatred that has no reason to be where everyone is dispossessed. A wave of anger fueled by a paranoid nationalism that perceives in the political dissent who loves his country a traitor who wants to sell his country to the enemy foreigner.

In the fragile fabric of society, there are threads that must never be broken because there is a risk that they can never be restored, repaired, healed.

That is perhaps the gravest danger that threatens Cuba at the moment. Worse still than the lack of supply in the markets or the lack of liquidity of the money that is obtained through honest work; Worse still, is that ideological epithets succeed in dissolving our identity.
