Dos fuentes vinculadas a Washington, una de ellas cercana a la administración de Donald Trump, confirmaron este miércoles a CiberCuba que las autoridades estadounidenses, con asesoría de expertos cubanoamericanos, están considerando limitar al máximo la operatividad de las agencias autorizadas por el Departamento del Tesoro para fletar vuelos a la isla. Aunque el alcance de las medidas que buscarían reducir las operaciones de los charters está en proceso de definición y consultas, el objetivo sí está claro: regresar en lo posible la situación de los viajes desde Estados Unidos al panorama durante la era de George W. Bush.

“De hecho una de las razones por las que no se eliminaron los vuelos directos a La Habana es para mantener un mínimo canal de entrada a Cuba en caso de que las restricciones a los charters en efecto se implementen”, dijo a CiberCuba una fuente que pidió permanecer en el anonimato.
