Cuba es conocida como la Isla de la Música. Esto se debe no solo a la diversidad de géneros que surgieron en ella, o a sus destacados intérpretes de fama mundial, sino a la manera en que su pueblo ama y vive la música. Quizás por eso mientras las grandes ciudades del mundo tienen músicos callejeros, los pueblos de Cuba tienen hombres orquesta.

Luis “La Bomba” es natural de Bayamo. Hace más de una década creó su orquesta ambulante, compuesta por una batería de diseño propio a partir de materiales reciclados que recopilaba por la calle. No hay ritmo que se le resista.

Recorre La Habana con su carromato musical. Pude verlo en vivo, en el año 2007, en concierto exclusivo frente al Capitolio. Este hombre deslumbra a todos con su voz de sonero oriental, sus habilidades para tocar la improvisada batería y un humor cubano que saber sacar carcajadas.

BENANCIO “PEPE”, EL HOMBRE ORQUESTA CUBANO.

Benancio “Pepe” Labrada, nació en el Escambray cienfueguero. Este humilde campesino lleva el ritmo en la sangre, tanto es así que, sin haber cursado estudios, diseñó sus propios instrumentos que le permitieran sonar por todos lados.

Pepe toca seis instrumentos con el pie, cinco con las manos y uno con la boca. Las primeras actuaciones se dice que las hizo en el portal de su casa. Pero el mundo en las lomas cienfuegueras se le hacía pequeño y salió a recorrer la Isla. Presume de su amor a la música y no cobra por sus actuaciones.

EL HOMBRE ORQUESTA DE LA CALLE MERCADERES, LA HABANA.

En La Habana Vieja se le puede encontrar por distintas zonas, pero es conocido por sus actuaciones en la Calle Mercaderes, una de las arterias más pintorescas y cuidadas del centro histórico capitalino.

Este músico crea sus propias marionetas sonoras. El conjunto es por momentos disonante, pero tan simpático y creativo que su público le perdona cualquier desliz. Las propinas no le sobran a este músico, pero él sigue constante, alegrando a los transeúntes de La Habana.

¿Tres hombres, tres personajes, tres locos o tres músicos?

Estos tres cubanos van contagiando de alegría a todos a su paso. Incluso quienes no se animan a mirarlos al alma, no pueden evitar voltear la cara para admirar sus creaciones sonoras.
