Se acerca el fin de un nuevo año y todos, en mayor o menor medida, vivamos donde vivamos, dispongamos de más o menos recursos; dedicamos los últimos días que nos separan del cierre de este 2018 para repensar el año vivido y el que casi asoma a la puerta, para festejar y celebrar.

Los cubanos también celebran, faltaría más, el fin de año. Es cierto que las calles no se abarrotan de luces navideñas, que los comercios no terminan hartándonos con sus villancicos, es cierto que muchos hogares no tienen arbolito ni regalos al pie de él, pero en Cuba se celebra el fin de año y se espera la llegada del nuevo.

Aunque, algunas personas pudieran tomar estas palabras como una desatención de los problemas más trascendentes en la Isla, aunque muchos tilden de frivolidad hablar de fin de año en lugar de detenciones, hablar de tradiciones en lugar de libertades; tapar la celebración por el fin de año en la Isla es despojar a los cubanos de una alegría que por derecho les asiste y de un disfrute, como si solo pudieran ser ciudadanos al servicio de las más intensas y contrapuestas causas.

No hablar de las festividades por el fin del año en Cuba no es hacerle justicia a las carencias y limitaciones que sus ciudadanos padecen sino, probablemente, alejarles del común ritmo, casi sincrónico sentimiento, que recorre el planeta a finales de diciembre. Por eso, porque toca y porque los cubanos lo merecen, dejamos esta lista de algunas de las cosas que distinguen el fin de año cubano y que cohesionan la celebración de la familia cubana:

EL AMBIENTE FESTIVO.
1) Ambiente festivo: rara vez en el año en Cuba se percibe tanta alegría, alborozo y concentración en una actividad común, sea porque conseguir los ingredientes para la cena final cueste más que en el resto del mundo, sea porque el calendario lo reserva pero en Cuba, en diciembre, la fiesta se siente y se palpa.

REUNIONES FAMILIARES.
2) Reuniones de familia: empezar el año con la familia es un ritual sagrado e inviolable en muchos de los hogares cubanos, los que se ven poco, los que viven lejos o los que comparten techo se reúnen para hacer un alto en las responsabilidades que roban tiempo, en las vicisitudes que roban vida y regalarse una noche de felicidad y armonía.

LAS COLAS LARGAS.
3) Largas colas e interminables gestiones: hacerse del pedacito de carne, los frijoles negros, la yuca y no digamos ya los turrones para quienes puedan permitírselos, no es algo que en la Isla tome unos pocos minutos de compra en la tienda o supermercado más cercano. Las cosas son pocas y ‘vuelan’, por eso tanto las TRD como los centros comerciales o agros se convierten en hervideros de personas que se aglomeran para hacerse con el turrón, la bebida, la carne o la vianda para la gran noche.

RECUERDOS FAMILIARES.
4) Protagónica ausencia de algunos miembros: Por estas fechas, en casi todo el mundo, se recuerda a la abuela que ya no está, al familiar que se fue antes de tiempo, pero en la Isla, donde tantas y tantas familias sufren la emigración de alguno de sus integrantes, buena parte del fin de año se llena de ausencias y vacíos.

LLAMADA DE AFUERA.
5) La llamada de ‘afuera’: el anterior punto lleva a este. Quienes vivan en el extrajero saben de lo imposible que se torna la comunicación telefónica con Cuba un 31 de diciembre (lo mismo para días de los padres y las madres); quienes vivan en la Isla saben de cuán pendientes están muchos hogares del timbre del teléfono, de cuánto se espera escuchar la voz del hijo, del hermano, de la madre, el sobrino o el amigo de toda la vida. Como si de una bendición se tratase (como las buenas noches, la buena suerte o el todo va a salir bien necesarios) la noche se disfruta más cuando a ambos lados de la línea pueden desearse felicidades y buenos augurios para el nuevo año.

LA QUEMA DEL MUÑECÓN.
6) La quema del muñecón o el año viejo: ceremonia que convierte en efímero lo negativo del año y especie de purga para el nuevo. Suele llevar nombre del villano de la telenovela de turno, en ocasiones, se le ha vestido con atuendos alusivos al país vecino o ha servido para algún que otro desahogo crítico ante la situación en el país.

MI MÚSICA.
7) Música: Lo que para muchos puede sonar vacuo tópico o clishé mantenido, es en realidad una justa descripción de la víspera del año nuevo en Cuba. Los cubanos rara vez celebramos en silencio y cuanto mayor el motivo, cuanta mayor la alegría, más alta se pondrá la música. El 31 es, por tanto en Cuba, de todo menos silencioso. Los barrios cubanos en la última noche del año se caracterizan por la sana competencia entre las músicas de los vecinos que quieren ponerle banda sonora al fin de ciclo.

MI TRAGO CUBANO.
8) El traguito, el brindis o el abrazo con el vecino: Lo bueno que tienen los altos o celebraciones señaladas en el calendario es que se convierten en treguas y momentos para perdonar todo, olvidar y aglutinar. Los fines de año en Cuba se cargan de abrazos, brindis entre vecinos, camaradería y afecto.

EL OBLIGATORIO CERDO.
9) Los platos típicos: cerdo asado (en parrillas, en hornos o en cazuela), por piezas o completo; arroz moro o arroz blanco con frijoles negros, yuca con mojo,viandas fritas, ensalada (según preferencias puede incluir pepino, tomate, aguacate, lechuga), refrescos, cervezas y algún que otro vino.

CUBO DE AGUA.
10) Ritos de purificación y limpieza para comenzar el año con buen pie: hay quien tira un cubo de agua por la ventana o hacia la calle, quien se persigna, quien limpia la casa -con agua del congelador-, quien da un traguito a los santos (muchos lo hacen todo el año antes de beber cualquier alcohol) y no pocos tienen sus (in)confesables rituales para alejar lo malo, limpiar el aura y asegurarse lo bueno.

Seguramente habrá muchos otros detalles, propios o compartidos, que harán de la última noche de este 2015 un momento memorable para la familia cubana. Esperemos que sirva para aparcar por un momento los problemas, las ausencias, los vacíos y para afrontar los retos, proyectos, escollos y conquistas del venidero año con buena semblanza, energía y deseos.
