Uno de los tríos mexicanos de renombre en la época dorada del bolero fue el Trio Hermanos Michel, integrado por Ignacio, Manuel y José Antonio Michel Santana, se inician artísticamente según palabras del propio José Antonio: como un pasatiempo después de cumplir sus labores en el campo, originarios de Tonaya Jalisco su tierra natal, se ponían a cantar y cuando logran un buen acoplamiento daban serenatas y deciden ir a la capital del país para probar suerte.
