Twitter “finalmente agregó el código de Cuba (+53) en las opciones para el registro”, informó el diario estatal Juventud Rebelde, mientras la empresa de microblogging con sede en San Francisco no ha publicado de momento información oficial al respecto.

La red social obliga a sus nuevos usuarios en Cuba a verificar las cuentas mediante un mensaje de texto, pero hasta este miércoles no ofrecía la posibilidad de escoger el prefijo +53, por lo que los cubanos tenían que recurrir a familiares o conocidos en el extranjero para hacer la gestión.

Se desconoce si esta restricción es o no producto del embargo, vigente desde hace seis décadas, y que obstaculiza ciertas transacciones financieras y algunos registros online. En todo caso, según Juventud Rebelde, desde el miércoles existe la posibilidad de introducir el código telefónico cubano, por lo que se registraron nuevos usuarios de la Isla, algunos de los cuales dedicaron sus primeros mensajes a celebrar la inesperada apertura de la red.

Esta ha llegado precisamente la semana en la que Díaz-Canel cumple un mes con usuario de Twitter.

El cambio de la política de Twitter se produce un mes después de que Díaz-Canel abriese su cuenta.

El primer jefe de Estado cubano con presencia en redes sociales ha acumulado más de 46.000 seguidores y ha publicado 186 tuits, la mayoría textos con alegatos patrióticos y mensajes de apoyo a las políticas de su Gobierno y las de sus aliados en Venezuela, Bolivia y Nicaragua.

Explicó que posee una arquitectura que se integró amablemente a la de La Habana, donde no se puede definir un estilo preciso, donde se mezclan el dulce eclecticismo que tanto agradó a los cubanos. Donde están, en las imposturas del Hotel, en las motivaciones, en los escudos y en los salones, los usos y costumbres propios de esa época.

Poco antes de concluir su estancia en la mayor de las Antillas, el gobernante español resaltó en su cuenta en la red social Twitter los resultados positivos de la visita, que incluyó la firma de dos memorandos para interconsultas anuales sobre asuntos de interés mutuo y potenciar intercambios culturales.

En diversos momentos de la visita, el político ibérico expresó el propósito de situar las relaciones económicas entre ambas naciones a la altura de sus vínculos históricos y afectivos, y aseveró que Madrid seguirá impulsando las inversiones españolas en la ínsula.

El programa incluyó, asimismo, la entrega a Cuba de la silla del mayor general del Ejército Liberador de Cuba, Antonio Maceo, hecha del tronco de una palma, 121 años después de que fuera capturada por un general español tras un combate y llevada a España como trofeo de guerra.

Con la presencia del gobernante español en Cuba se puso fin a más de tres décadas de ausencia de un político de su rango en la isla, pues la última visita fue realizada por Felipe González en 1986.
