CADA AÑO SON MENOS LOS CUBANOS QUE SE REGISTRAN EN EL “BOMBO” PARA IR A ESTADOS UNIDOS.
En los últimos tres años fiscales (2016, 2017 y 2018) un total de 605.199 cubanos se han apuntado al Programa Visa de Diversidad que sortea 50.000 visados anuales para emigrar a Estados Unidos.
Aún así, cada vez son menos los cubanos que se apuntan a lo que en Cuba se conoce como el Bombo y que el pasado 3 de octubre abrió el plazo de inscripción, hasta el próximo 6 de noviembre.
Las estadísticas recogidas en el portal del Departamento de Estado de Estados Unidos demuestran que en los últimos tres años fiscales ha caído el número de personas con pasaporte de Cuba que han optado a participar en el Bombo.
De esta forma, hemos pasado de los 362.368 cubanos inscritos en 2016 (el dato incluye a quien se apunta más a sus familiares directos, con derecho a emigrar) a los 114.560 del año fiscal 2018. Tres veces menos candidatos a emigrar a Estados Unidos a través del Bombo.
María, una vecina de la Habana del Este, ha asegurado a CiberCuba que no se ha apuntado en otras ocasiones porque nunca se enteraba de cuándo abría el plazo. Es lo mismo que opina Laura, de Holguín, que no sabía que la inscripción podía hacerse por internet y pensaba que apuntarse le suponía demasiado gasto si tenía que desplazarse hasta La Habana. El Bombo está pensado para inmigrantes procedentes de países de bajo historial migratorio a los Estados Unidos. Actualmente hay un plazo de inscripción abierto, que cerrará a las 12:00 a.m. del 6 de noviembre. Aún hay tiempo, pero desde el Departamento de Estado de Estados Unidos advierten de que no se deje la inscripción para las fechas finales porque es justamente en ese momento donde se produce una avalancha de solicitudes y eso hace que el sistema funcione de manera más lenta.
La inscripción en el Bombo es gratis y el sorteo se realiza mediante un sistema computarizado. Ningún país, de los participantes, puede recibir más del 7% de visas.
Este año no podrán optar al Programa Visas de Diversidad los nacionales de los siguientes países: Bangladesh, Brasil, Canadá, China (continental), Colombia, República Dominicana, El Salvador, Haití, India, Jamaica, México, Nigeria, Pakistán, Perú, Filipinas, Corea del Sur, Reino Unido (excepto Irlanda del Norte) y sus territorios dependientes, y Vietnam.
Los candidatos sólo deben apuntarse una sola vez. Introducir el nombre en más de una oportunidad implica la descalificación automática.
