Undoubtedly, throughout the world, Cuba is considered “the island of music.” Talent hunters feel that the soul overflows whenever it stumbles, by chance or by something that must be shared. Today we are going to talk about one of what is perhaps the greatest carat musical jewel at this moment in Cuba, and I would not like to be labeled as pompous in my reference.

Born in Sancti Spíritus on September 25, 1963, her beginnings as a soloist in 1991 were at the Neptuno-Triton tourist centers in Havana City. For 1994 he toured several countries in Africa with the Raíces Cubanas group

From 1994 to 1998 he works with the quartet “Sello Cubano” of Orlando López “Cachao”, and at the opening of the Hotels: “Copacabana”, with a repertoire of more than 80 Brazilian songs; and “Melia Cohiba”, along with the teachers Frank Emilio and Tata Güines, recalling the group “Los Amigos”, founded by them in 1950 (seed of the Buenavista Social Club project).

In November 2008 he presented his first solo concert “Stations” at the Theater of the Museum of Fine Arts, under the General Artistic Direction of the famous director Lester Hamlet. While in December of that year she did it as a guest at the Raúl Paz concert at the Karl Marx Theater

In 2009, his artistic commitments have multiplied, including presentations on stellar programs on Cuban TV and Radio.

From May to June 2009 he toured Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, together with the group Reflexión, presenting himself as a guest figure in the well-known “Son de Cuba Festival” that took place in those countries several years ago, sharing the stage with other Cuban musicians, like David Álvarez.

LA ISLA DE LA MUSICA, CUBA Y LA TALENTOSA CANTANTE IVETTE CEPEDA.

Sin duda, en todo el mundo, Cuba se considera “la isla de la música”. Los cazadores de talento sienten que el alma se desborda siempre que se tropieza, por casualidad o por algo que debe compartirse. Hoy vamos a hablar de una de la que es quizás la joya musical de mayor quilates en Cuba, y no me gustaría que me tilden de pomposo en mi referencia.

Nacida en Sancti Spíritus un 25 de Septiembre de 1963 sus comienzos como solista en 1991 fueron en los centros turísticos Neptuno-Triton en Ciudad de la Habana . Para 1994 realiza una gira por varios países de África con el grupo Raíces Cubanas

Desde 1994 a 1998 trabaja con el cuarteto “Sello Cubano” de Orlando López “Cachao”, y en la inauguración de los Hoteles: “Copacabana”, con un repertorio de más de 80 temas brasileños; y “ Melia Cohiba”, junto a los también maestros Frank Emilio y Tata Güines, rememorando al grupo “Los Amigos”, fundado por ellos en 1950 (semilla del proyecto Buenavista Social Club).

En noviembre del 2008 se presentó su primer concierto en solitario “Estaciones” en el Teatro del Museo de Bellas Artes, bajo la Dirección Artística General del afamado realizador Lester Hamlet. Mientras en diciembre de ese año lo hizo como invitada en el concierto de Raúl Paz, del Teatro Karl Marx

En el 2009 sus compromisos artísticos se han multiplicado incluyendo presentaciones en programas estelares de la TV y Radio Cubana.

De mayo a junio del 2009 realizó una gira por Dinamarca, Alemania y Suiza, junto con el grupo Reflexión, presentándose como figura invitada en el ya conocido “Festival Son de Cuba” que se realiza en dichos países hace varios años, compartiendo escenario junto a otros músicos cubanos, como David Álvarez.

Pero oigamos hablar de lo que pudiera repararle el futuro a esta joya musical.. “No creo que llegue a ser una cantante que decida cantar lo que esté de moda. Tengo que cantar lo que me gusta. Me gustan los cantantes esos que se llaman ‘sin voz’, y lo que más quisiera llegar a ser es una cantante que se fuera quedando, poco a poco, sin voz, para ver qué me sale de adentro. Cuando más me gusta cantar es cuando estoy ronca, por eso es que, todavía, no he entrado nunca a ninguna academia ni he dado clases de canto. Tampoco quiero abusar ni decepcionar al público.

Yo quisiera pasar por la experiencia, alguna vez, del proceso de creación que, imagino, sería el de Bola de Nieve , cuando decía “¿cómo le llego al alma a la gente cuando ya no tengo voz o cuando mi voz no es una voz convencional?”. Porque para mí, su voz, era esa que tenía y me parece maravillosa, nadie lo pudo imitar, nadie pudo llegar al nivel interpretativo de Bola de Nieve, es tan excepcional que ahí está su valor. Y eso quisiera ser: una cantante que fuera siempre a ese rinconcito que está en el alma de todo el mundo. No quisiera ser una cantante aburrida” asi termina con esta nuestra presentación.
