Cuba y España preparan las condiciones para una visita de Estado a la isla del Rey Felipe VI y la Reina Letizia a principios de enero del 2018, en respuesta a una invitación formal del Gobierno cubano, confirmaron a Efe fuentes diplomáticas.
La fecha de la que será la primera visita oficial de un monarca español a Cuba se concretó hoy en una reunión en la sede de la Cancillería cubana en La Habana entre el ministro de Asuntos Exteriores español, Alfonso Dastis, y el canciller cubano, Bruno Rodríguez.
Dastis llegó ayer martes a la capital cubana en su primera visita oficial para sentar las bases para esa visita de Estado, que sería la primera del Rey de España al país caribeño, y también para profundizar en la relación bilateral e impulsar los intereses económicos españoles en la isla.”Fecha específica no tenemos, pero la invitación la formuló el actual presidente del Consejo de Estado, Raúl Castro, y lo lógico es que la visita se haga mientras él siga siendo presidente”, declaró a medios españoles Dastis al finalizar su reunión con el canciller cubano.
Raúl Castro tiene previsto abandonar la presidencia de Cuba en febrero de 2018, después de cumplir dos mandatos consecutivos, y previsiblemente será el primer vicepresidente cubano, Miguel Díaz-Canel, quien lo suceda en el cargo.”Puede ser perfectamente a principios de año”, se limitó a decir el ministro español sobre la visita, aunque posteriormente fuentes diplomáticas confirmaron que ya se trabaja en los preparativos para principios de enero de 2018.

Si viajara a Cuba, Rajoy sería el primer presidente español, desde la época de Felipe González, en poner los pies en la isla en visita bilateral.
En el encuentro entre Dastis y Rodríguez, que se prolongó durante más de una hora, abordaron “temas de la relación bilateral y cómo reforzar las consultas para tener un diálogo institucional lo más estrecho posible”, indicó el ministro español.”España quiere acompañar a Cuba en sus esfuerzos por potenciar su economía”, subrayó Dastis, quien también le trasladó al canciller cubano la preocupación de los proveedores españoles basados en Cuba que sufren impagos, una situación que esperan solucionar pronto.Sobre la grave crisis institucional y política que atraviesa Venezuela, principal aliado político y económico de Cuba en la región, Dastis se limitó a decir que en la reunión se habló “de todos los temas regionales de América Latina”.
