Daughter of Francisco Pita Rodriguez, known as “Pacopé” and brother of the great Cuban writer Félix Pita Rodríguez who was a popular commentator of artistic shows in newspapers of his time, such as El País.
His attachment to art began in childhood when he received acting, ballet and singing classes.
Amelita was founder of the Rita Montaner Theater Company, where in 1964 – with only two years of theatrical grouping – she starred in the production of “Arsenic and Lace” by Joseph Kesselring, directed by Cuqui Ponce de León and Rogelio Rodríguez, and in which he acted with José Hermida and Fernando Robles.
Amelita has also been a member of the Bertolt Brecht Political Theater Group, under the general direction of Mario Balmaseda, in which he participated in many of his works, such as ‘The Kremlin’.
At the end of the decade of the 80 interpreted with great success of public and critic a monologue of the playwright Héctor Quintero titled That is great, with which traveled to several countries, between Mexico and Ecuador.

Death

Hija de Francisco Pita Rodríguez, conocido como “Pacopé” y hermano del gran escritor cubano Félix Pita Rodríguez quien fue un popular comentarista de espectáculos artísticos en periódicos de su época, como El País.
Su vinculación al arte empezó en la infancia al recibir clases de actuación, de ballet y de canto.
Amelita fue fundadora de la Compañía Teatral Rita Montaner, en la que ya en 1964 -a sólo dos años de fundada la agrupación teatral- protagonizó la puesta en escena ‘Arsénico y Encaje’, obra de Joseph Kesselring que dirigieron artísticamente Cuqui Ponce de León y Rogelio Rodríguez, y en la que actuó junto a José Hermida y Fernando Robles.
Amelita integró también desde su creación el Grupo Teatro Político Bertolt Brecht, bajo la dirección general de Mario Balmaseda, en la que participó en muchas de sus obras, como ‘El carrillón del Kremlin’.
A finales de la década del 80 interpretó con gran éxito de público y crítica un monólogo del dramaturgo Héctor Quintero titulado Aquello está buenísimo, con el que viajó a varios países, entre ellos México y Ecuador.
En televisión, son recordadas sus intervenciones en las telenovelas cubanas El año que viene, y Si me pudieras querer.

Realizó también un extenso trabajo como animadora y conductora de programas artísticos, en el Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales, La Unión Nacional de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC), el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes y el Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas, entre otros centro de promoción cultural.
Muerte
Falleció, de muerte repentina, la tarde del jueves 18 de octubre del 2002 en su residencia del habanero barrio de El Vedado.
