AEROLÍNEAS ESPAÑOLAS OFRECEN A CUBA USAR SUS SERVICIOS PARA ENTRAR EN EEUU.
Air Nostrum se ofrece a Cuba para volar a Miami y evitar el embargo de aviones. Otros dos gigantes de la economía valenciana, Aguas y Balearia, confían en aprovechar la apertura económica.
Los presidentes de las tres compañías valencianas más importantes de una misión comercial que se encuentra en Cuba, Carlos Bertomeu de Air Nostrum, Eugenio Calabuig de Aguas de Valencia y Adolfo Utor de Balearia, han expresado su confianza en que el proceso de nueva economía que se abre en la isla permitirá oportunidades de inversión y venta a empresas españolas dados los lazos culturales y sentimentales entre los dos países, reforzados ayer en un encuentro entre agentes económicos de los dos lados del Atlántico. En la misión valenciana que encabeza el presidente Ximo Puig también participa otro gigante de la economía regional, el grupo Boluda, aunque no está representado por su máximo responsable.
Air Nostrum protagonizó la noticia del día al anunciar su presidente, Carlos Bertomeu, que va a plantear a las autoridades cubanas la posibilidad de ofrecer su flota de aviones para la comunicación aérea desde Cuba a Estados Unidos y a otras islas del Caribe. Actualmente, varias aerolíneas estadounidenses vuelan a Cuba, pero ese tráfico no es recíproco porque, según explicó Bertomeu, si aeronaves de la empresa Cubana de Aviación tomaran tierra en Miami u otro aeropuerto del país podrían quedar automáticamente embargadas para ejecutar las sentencias a favor de ciudadanos estadounidenses y cubanos que fueron desposeídos de sus bienes por orden del gobierno de Castro.
´Igual que hacemos con Iberia, nosotros vendemos horas de vuelo con códigos de compañías que tienen los derechos de navegación ?comenta Bertomeu-. Y las cubanas no pueden operar en Estados Unidos para evitar el embargo de bienes. Nosotros tenemos la experiencia y los aviones para operar a escala regional. No es nada fácil. Pero el corto y el medio radio es la distancia ideal, la de Cuba a Miami. El potencial de ese tráfico es enorme. Ya hay 12 compañías en lista de espera, y cuando empiece lo hará con alta frecuencia´.
Esta propuesta de Air Nostrum al gobierno de Cuba cuenta con la complicidad de Iberia, según Bertomeu, ya que ´Latinoamérica es una zona estratégica para ellos y un socio que le dé capilaridad local no le vendrá mal.´ De momento, el presidente de la aerolínea valenciana está ´explorando´ el interés de Cuba por la propuesta, que incluiría aviones CRJ-200 de 50 plazas en un primer momento. Este modelo de avión ya ha sido certificado por la aviación cubana, para la que Air Nostrum ya tiene acreditados talleres de mantenimiento y motores.
En cuanto a la misión comercial, Bertomeu está más que satisfecho. ´Gracias a mi integración en la delegación valenciana tengo esta tarde seis reuniones con la parte cubana, que de otro modo me habrían costado seis viajes diferentes. El apoyo institucional a los empresarios es relevante en unos países y menos o casi nada en otros, pero desde luego en Cuba es muy necesario´, dijo.
Balearia sigue a la espera de respuesta
Otro importante empresario incorporado a la misión valenciana, Adolfo Utor, espera desde hace un año que las autoridades de La Habana se pronuncien sobre los tres proyectos que presentó para operar con la naviera Balearia entre Cuba y Estados Unidos. ´La administración cubana tiene sus tiempos y estamos en pleno proceso de cambios. No hay que ponerse nerviosos. El puerto de Barcelona ha tardado siete años en darme una concesión´, declaraba Utor a Levante-EMV ayer, en un receso del programa de encuentros de empresarios valencianos con ejecutivos y funcionarios cubanos de sus respectivas áreas de trabajo.
Para Utor, el servicio de ferrys entre La Habana y Miami al que aspira, interrumpido desde 1959, ´es una cosa muy simbólica y tiene un trámite jurídico complejo. Cuba se abre y es objeto de deseo de todos, desde los chinos a los canadienses. Podemos entender que para los cubanos no sea un proyecto prioritario ahora´. De hecho, ni la reanudación del tráfico de ferrys, ni la instauración de un servicio sólo para viajeros, ni tampoco la habilitación de las distintas estaciones marítimas de la bahía de La Habana, los tres proyectos presentados a Cuba por Baleria con una inversión prevista de 35 millones de euros, figuran en la Cartera de oportunidades publicada por el país con los más de 350 proyectos de inversión prioritaria. ´Ese es el problema´, dice Utor. ´Pero ellos tienen sus plazos´.
