American Airlines will sell tickets to Cuba to $ 198 until July 11 to people travelling to the island between September 7 and November 15 this year, said a company spokeswoman Marti news.
The airports chosen for this promotional price are Boston, Miami, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia Tampa and Washington, D.C., from where will come out planes to Cienfuegos, Camaguey, Holguin, Varadero and Santa Clara.

American Airlines venderá los pasajes a Cuba a $198 dólares hasta el 11 de julio a las personas que viajen a la isla entre el 7 de septiembre y el 15 de noviembre de este año, dijo a Martí Noticias una vocera de la compañía.
Los aeropuertos escogidos para este precio promocional son Boston, Miami, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia Tampa y Washington D.C., desde donde saldrán aviones hacia Cienfuegos, Camagüey, Holguín, Varadero y Santa Clara.
La compañía tiene previsto comenzar en septiembre los vuelos directos desde Miami a Santa Clara, Camagüey, Cienfuegos Holguín y Varadero y esperan autorización para vuelos desde Charlotte, Chicago y Los Ángeles. En total serán 18 vuelos diarios a Cuba, señaló Alexis Aran Coello.
Pero la entrada de las aerolineas comerciales de EEUU en el mercado no ha disminuido sustancialmente el costo de los pasajes. El precio regular de un boleto de ida y vuelta anunciado previamente por American Airlines en su sitio en internet oscilaba para esa fecha entre $498 dólares a la ciudad de Cienfuegos y $448 para Holguín.
Al respecto, la vocera explicó que en el caso de los vuelos chárter el precio de un viaje a Cuba no contempla solamente el boleto, también tienen que facturar el equipaje.
“En American Airlines no les vamos a cobrar por libras de equipaje, le vamos a cobrar por la maleta como cualquier otro viaje a otra parte. Viajar a Cuba va a ser como a cualquier otra ciudad del mundo”, precisó.
La compañía favorecerá a los pasajeros que viajen a Cuba con el programa AAdvantage, en el que los viajeros frecuentes ganan millas.
Consultados sobre si los aeropuertos cubanos están preparados para una mayor afluencia de vuelos diarios, la vocera dijo que han estado volando desde Miami a La Habana por 25 años, también a otras ciudades como Holguín y Camagüey, y no se ha reportado problemas.
“Los aeropuertos cubanos no son nuevos para nosotros y hemos estado trabajando duro con el gobierno cubano y las autoridades de los aeropuertos para asegurarnos de que todo esté listo antes de que empiecen los vuelos en septiembre”, concluyó.
