A double from US President Barack Obama strolled through Old Havana surprising Cubans and foreigners, it is a witty performance within the activities of the Havana Biennial, which began Friday.
A suit and tie and speaking in English, twice came on Thursday night in the gallery “Factory Havana” and then in the neighboring bar “O’Reilly 304” where he ordered a mojito, causing surprise among the present, many of whom took photos.
The Cuban artist René Francisco Rodríguez told AFP that influenced by the news of the approach that the United States and Cuba began in December, one night dreamed that Obama visited the island, so that at dawn he decided to turn his dream into an artistic action.
The video of the performance will be shown at the exhibition of Rodriguez, “Entropy”, which opened on Saturday as part of the Biennial and in which more than 200 artists from 40 countries.
Josh Earnest, White House spokesman, said Thursday that Obama “would enjoy the opportunity to visit the island of Cuba, and Havana in particular.”
Earnest had said on May 11 that Obama did not rule out a trip to Cuba, but not among his immediate plans.

Un doble del presidente de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, se paseó por La Habana Vieja sorprendiendo a cubanos y extranjeros, se trata de un ingenioso performance dentro de las actividades de la Bienal de La Habana, la cual comenzó este viernes.
Vestido de traje y corbata, y hablando en inglés, el doble entró el jueves en la noche en la galería de arte “Factoría Habana” y luego en el vecino bar “O’Reilly 304″, donde pidió un mojito, causando sorpresa entre los presentes, muchos de los cuales le tomaron fotos.
El artista cubano René Francisco Rodríguez explicó a la AFP que influido por las noticias del acercamiento que Estados Unidos y Cuba iniciaron en diciembre, una noche soñó que Obama visitaba la isla, por lo que al amanecer decidió convertir su sueño en una acción artística.
El video de la performance será exhibido en la exposición de Rodríguez, “Entropía”, que inaugurará el sábado como parte de la Bienal y en la que participan más de 200 artistas de 40 países.
Josh Earnest, portavoz de la Casa Blanca, dijo el jueves que Obama “disfrutaría de la oportunidad de visitar la isla de Cuba, y La Habana en particular”.
Earnest había dicho el 11 de mayo que Obama no descartaba un viaje a Cuba, aunque no figuraba entre sus planes inmediatos.
La XII Bienal de La Habana abrió este viernes marcada por el histórico deshielo entre Unidos Unidos y Cuba.
