Amaury Gutiérrez was born on September 9, 1963 in Santa Clara, Cuba as Amaury Gutiérrez Brufau.
His first album Amaury Gutiérrez (1999) was nominated for a Latin Grammy and sold more than 600 thousand copies. He received the breakthrough artist award of the year by Premio Onda in Spain in 2000.
Amaury Gutiérrez defines his style as “Cuban Pop”, a mix of various musical genres including the old and the Nueva Trova, some twists of contemporary music and authorial sense of the golden age of bolero, and even music and Mexican poetry.
In 2007, Amaury participated in the Mexican reality show TV Azteca, known as “Golden Disc”, led by José Luis Rodríguez “El Puma” and María Inés. Competition among several artists from different decades of music, it turned out to be winning the singer Beatriz Adriana.
In 2011 received the Latin Grammy.
In 2012 he participated as co-coach of the team Andrés Cepeda in the first edition of the talent show “The Voice Colombia”, giving his professional opinion of the contestants on that computer, where the winner will have a recording contract with Universal Studios-Los Angeles .
He has supported the dissident movement Yo No Coopero Con La Dictadura (English: I Do Not Cooperate with the
Dictatorship).
