PELICULA “OMEGA 3” CIENCIA FICCIÓN CUBANA.
El miércoles 20 de agosto tuvo lugar, en el Cine Charles Chaplin de La Habana, la premier de Omega 3, segundo largometraje del realizador y guionista Eduardo del Llano. Asistieron el viceministro de Cultura, Fernando Rojas, y el presidente del ICAIC, Roberto Smith, además de integrantes del elenco y personal técnico del filme.
Eduardo del Llano es conocido como guionista de largometrajes de otros directores, incluido La película de Ana, por la que ganó el Premio Coral al mejor guión en el Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano 2012. Sus cortos, agrupados bajo el título Los cuentos de Nicanor y distribuidos de memoria flash en memoria flash, le dieron fama clandestina en el país. Pero no es la realidad cubana el tema de su segundo filme.
Como en su debut —intento de recrear un pasaje de la vida de Leonardo Da Vinci—, con Omega 3 del Llano busca escapar a la crítica social que amenaza con convertirse en un —necesario, a falta de una prensa que refleje nuestra realidad— género cinematográfico. Omega 3 es un filme de ciencia ficción, y de hecho los medios lo promocionaron como el primero cubano de este género.
En la premier, del Llano mencionó antecedentes cubanos que podrían ubicarse dentro de la ciencia ficción o de la ficción especulativa, como clasifica a Omega 3. Explicó además que la película fue realizada con un nivel de factura para evitar el condescendiente comentario “para ser hecha en Cuba, está bastante bien”. También aclaró que no es un filme de muchos disparos y acción; hay los necesarios, pero lo más importante es la tesis filosófica que lo sustenta.
No pueden sino resultar alentadores los propósitos de Eduardo del Llano. Que los logre es otra cosa.
Omega 3 se ubica en una guerra futura en la que los humanos no estarán divididos por naciones o razas, sino por su dieta. Los bandos serán Cars (carnívoros), Olis (ovo lácteos), Vegs (no me quedó claro si vegetarianos o veganos, porque los vegetarianos no excluyen los lácteos de su dieta), Fruts (frutíferos), Macs (macrobióticos). No se lucha por la paz mundial, sino por la imposición de una dieta. Hasta ahí, la sinopsis… y también la película. Los diálogos y las escenas no aportan nada a lo descrito en la sinopsis.
Aunque los humanos han demostrado su capacidad para aniquilarse unos a otros por razones políticas y religiosas, y no es descabellado pensar que podrían hacerlo por criterios de alimentación, lo que podría resultar interesante como tesis filosófica se pierde entre diálogos sosos, escenas sin tensión que se resuelven con parlamentos ligeramente graciosos.
Curiosamente, en ese mundo futuro, a diferencia del presente, parece haber suficiente comida para todos: suficiente carne, suficientes verduras, suficientes alimentos integrales, suficientes frutas. No hay escasez. Las incongruencias, las actuaciones de Daylenis Fuentes, Héctor Noas y Carlos Gonzalvo, entre otros, que no logran salvar el (insalvable) guión, y para rematar, el final, imposibilitan tomarse en serio lo que sucede en el filme.
Lo que más agradecí en Omega 3 —también en su predecesora, Vinci—, es la brevedad: solo 74 minutos. Es meritorio que todo haya sido hecho en Cuba, por cubanos. A excepción del creador de la banda sonora, argentino. Aunque no es exactamente la primera película cubana de ciencia ficción, Omega 3 plantea un nuevo reto a los directores del país, y permite a los espectadores soñar con otros géneros dentro de nuestra cinematografía. Ya tenemos nuestra película de zombis (Juan de los muertos), la de tema homosexual (así se promocionó Verde, verde, de Enrique Pineda Barnet). Ahora llega Omega 3, de ciencia ficción.
En uno de los diálogos del filme, entre la prisionera oli y el veg, ella dice que extraña el cine. Alguien, detrás de mí en la sala, dijo irónicamente: “yo también”.
Me sumo. También extraño el cine, el buen cine cubano, sin importar el género.

MOVIE “OMEGA 3” CUBAN SCIENCE FICTION.
