DEPORTES: JORGE SOLER DEBUTA COMO REGULAR CON EL CHICAGO EN LAS GRANDES LIGAS.
En medio del favorable oleaje cubano en Grandes Ligas, el jardinero Jorge Soler entrará este miércoles por la puerta ancha de las Grandes Ligas.
Los Cachorros de Chicago anunciaron oficialmente el ascenso de Soler al róster del equipo y podría hacer su debut esta misma noche en el Great American Ball Park de Cincinnati frente al equipo local.
“Es muy emocionante para toda la organización”, dijo Rick Rentería, mánager de los Cachorros al confirmarse el anuncio. “Un hombre joven de quien se ha hablado un poco y que se unirá a nosotros… Los compañeros de equipo están entusiasmados con él. Así que vamos a ver cómo le va”.
La entrada de Soler, de 22 años, en los Cachorros se produce bajo el impulso de la euforia cubana que ha calado en Grandes Ligas, tras las actuaciones arrolladoras de Yasiel Puig y José Dariel Abreu. Tal vez no ha habido mejor momento para promover y resaltar la pelota cubana en el mundo, disparando el interés en el talento criollo y las cifras de los contratos.
No hace aún una semana que el avileño Rusney Castillo firmó un acuerdo por siete años con los Medias Rojas de Boston por $72.5 millones de dólares. Un verdadero exabrupto de la chequera para premiar un pelotero de 27 años que aún lo tiene todo por demostrar en el béisbol profesional.
