SPORTS: ERISLANDY LARA PIERDE EN POLEMICA PELEA.
El mexicano Saúl Canelo Álvarez se llevó la victoria por decisión dividida sobre el cubano Erislandy Lara este sábado, ante más de 14.000 aficionados, en la Arena Garden del MGM Grand de Las Vegas.
El resultado de la pelea ha sido polémico.
“Toda la gente mexicana sabe que yo gané”, dijo Lara tras el combate y lamentó la decisión de los jueces, pues pensó que había hecho lo suficiente para ganar. “Canelo nunca me lastimó, sus golpes no me hicieron nada, lo hice fallar mucho”, añadió en declaraciones citadas por ESPNDeportes.
Dos jueces fallaron a favor de Canelo con tarjetas de 115-113 y 117-111, y uno en contra por 113-115.
“¿Qué tiene qué hacer un cubano para ganar en Las Vegas?”, se preguntó Lara quien, según el diario miamense El Nuevo Herald, ofreció una cátedra de boxeo reconocida por la mayoría de los expertos y los comentaristas de televisión.
La publicación consideró el resultado un “robo escandaloso”.
Compubox, un sistema computarizado para estadísticas de boxeo indicó que Lara conectó 107 golpes, 10 más que Canelo, informó ESPNDeportes.
La diferencia principal radicó en los golpes de poder, pues mientras el mexicano pegó 88 de 232 tirados para un 38 por ciento de efectividad, el cubano pegó apenas 52 de los 140 que lanzó para un 37 por ciento de precisión.
En cuanto a los jabs, Lara conectó 55 de los 246 que tiró, mientras que Canelo apenas pegó nueve de los 183 que lanzó.
.. Para la agencia AP, el combate debió terminar en empate.
“Yo vine a pelear, no a correr”, dijo Canelo tras la pelea. “Quería darle a la gente una buena pelea, pero él no vino a pelear, vino a correr. Si quiere la revancha, que aprenda a pelear”.
“Es que yo le gané, ¿cómo no pueden entenderlo los jueces?”, se preguntó Lara. “Estuve en control de la pelea, marque el ritmo y el tiempo. Canelo solo saber venir adelante con esa cara de malo, pero no sabe boxear. Nunca le enseñaron a boxear, solo a tirar golpes y eso es otra cosa”.
Canelo mejoró su récord a 44-1-1 y 31 nocauts, mientras que Lara se quedó con 19-2-2 y 12 nocauts.

Saul Canelo Alvarez Mexican took the win by split decision over Cuban Erislandy Lara on Saturday before more than 14,000 fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The outcome of the fight has been controversial.
“All the Mexican people know that I won,” Lara said after the fight and regretted the decision of the judges, for he thought he had done enough to win. “Canelo never hurt me, his punches did not do anything, I did fail a lot,” he said in remarks quoted by ESPN.
Two judges ruled in favor of Canelo cards 115-113 and 117-111, and 113-115 by one against.
“What does a Cuban do to win in Las Vegas?” Lara wondered who, according to the Miami newspaper El Nuevo Herald, offered a chair of boxing recognized by most pundits and TV commentators.
The publication considered the outcome as a “scandalous theft.”
