The Cuban assault rose from the middle after losing the first and best to have ended 3-0 ( 29-28 , 30-27 , 29-28 ) and repeat as American ‘s successful 2011 light at featherweight .
For his part, repeated his Heavyweight crown Cross 2011 in the 81 kilos to win 2-1 in the final combat into Kazakh Adilbek Niyazinmbetov .

Los boxeadores cubanos Lázaro Álvarez y Julio César La Cruz ganaron medallas de oro y retuvieron las coronas de Bakú-2011.
Cuba conquistó este sábado el segundo lugar por equipos en la edición 17 del Campeonato Mundial de Boxeo, disputado en la ciudad kazaka de Almaty, con dos medallas de oro, igual cantidad de plata y una de bronce, reportaron medios oficiales.
En la última jornada del certamen, los cubanos ganaron dos títulos con los triunfos de Lázaro Álvarez y Julio César La Cruz, quienes retuvieron las coronas obtenidas en la justa universal de Bakú-2011.
Álvarez, monarca del mundo hace dos años en los 56 kilogramos, triunfó ahora en los 60, tras derrotar por votación unánime de 3-0 al brasileño Robson Conceicao.
El cubano levantó desde el asalto intermedio tras perder el primero y cerró mejor para disponer 3-0 (29-28, 30-27, 29-28) del sudamericano y repetir como ligero el éxito de 2011 en la categoría pluma.
Por su parte, el semicompleto La Cruz repitió su corona de 2011 en los 81 kilos al vencer 2-1 en el combate final al kazako Adilbek Niyazinmbetov.
La Cruz reeditó el dominio ejercido en la final precedente de Bakú, ahora por votación dividida (29-28, 28-29, 30-27), en pleito que debió dejarle el veredicto unánime de los jueces.
Los otros dos cubanos en subir al cuadrilátero este sábado, Yasniel Toledo, de los 64 kg, y el debutante mundialista Arisnoide Despaigne, de los 60, quedaron en preseas plateadas al perder en la final ante púgiles de Kazajastán.
Kazajastán conquistó la lid por países, un hecho inédito en la historia de los mundiales, al alcanzar cuatro medallas de oro, dos de plata e igual cantidad de bronce, secundada por Cuba (2-2-1), Azerbaiyán (2-0-1), Rusia (1-2-1) e Italia (1-0-2).
