Vallina died Saturday at St. Anne Care Center in southwest Miami – Dade , after a long illness , said the Archdiocese of Miami .
” Monsignor Vallina was a true saint, a man dedicated to God and the service of the best causes of this community,” said lawyer Rafael Penalver, recognized lay leader of Miami . ” The Cuban exile community has lost one of its most virtuous and endearing .”
Dear both Cuban exiles as Latin American immigrants who frequented his parish in Little Havana , Father Vallina was a haven of solidarity, understanding and peace. The church of St. John Bosco was not only open as a religious space , but also helpful for health care , child care and feeding tens of humble .

UN ADIOS a Monseñor EMILIO VALLINA
Monseñor Emilio Vallina, fundador de la Iglesia de San Juan Bosco de Miami y defensor de los inmigrantes y necesitados de la comunidad, falleció a los 87 años en la ciudad a la que dedicó su esmerado servicio y liderazgo pastoral desde 1961.
Vallina murió el sábado en el Centro de Atención St. Anne en el suroeste de Miami-Dade, luego de una prolongada enfermedad, anunció la Arquidiócesis de Miami.
“Monseñor Vallina fue un verdadero santo, un hombre entregado a Dios y al servicio de las mejores causas de esta comunidad”, dijo el abogado Rafael Peñalver, reconocido líder laico de Miami. “El exilio cubano ha perdido a una de sus figuras más virtuosas y entrañables”.
Querido tanto por exiliados cubanos como por emigrados latinoamericanos que frecuentaban su parroquia en La Pequeña Habana, el Padre Vallina fue un remanso de solidaridad, comprensión y paz. La iglesia de San Juan Bosco estaba no solo abierta como un espacio de religiosidad, sino también de ayuda para la atención médica, el cuidado infantil y la alimentación de decenas de personas humildes.
“El pastor de los inmigrantes”, le llamaban popularmente.
