THE TRAIL OF ERNEST HEMINGWAY IN CUBA. A TOURIST TRIBUTE.
Along with the Ambos Mundos, the restaurant El Floridita bar, the Bodeguita del Medio (all in Old Havana), Terrace, Finca Vigia and Cojimar hotel are places that have been chosen to exploit the domestic tourism are bookmarking sites in the puzzle of the Cuban nationality what is now known as ‘The trail of Hemingway in Cuba’.

Family members and other people linked to the author of “The Old Man and the Sea”, also celebrate the 80th anniversary of the purchase of its flagship yacht ‘Pilar’ and the beginning of their journeys from Key West to Havana.
The source revealed that on Monday a fleet of boats Yacht Club partners with the visiting delegation on board, set sail from the Hemingway Marina (where the Club is) to reach the village of Cojimar.
Hemingway (1899-1961), an icon of American literature, lived in Cuba some of his most productive years (1939 to 1960), in which he sowed unconditional friends and admirers, including the fishermen of Cojimar.
From that coastal town, about 10 kilometers east of Havana, will head to the gazebo where the bust of Hemingway is, to pay tribute to the writer and lay a wreath.
This bronze bust was created from sailors offal, as anchors and propellers, collected by fishermen friends of Hemingway in the 60s of last century, to show their close friendship.
The delegation will hold a meeting at the Hemingway International Yacht Club, from where boats set sail each year to participate in the fishing tournament needle bearing the name of the writer.
The yacht ‘Pilar’ was donated to Cuba and is in the Museum of Finca Vigia in Havana peripheral town of San Francisco de Paula, where his residence was the author of “For Whom the Bell Tolls”.
In Cojimar is the restaurant-bar La Terraza de Cojimar, still prepares favorite dishes and cocktails also the author of “The Snows of Kilimanjaro”.

Junto con el hotel Ambos Mundos, el restaurante-bar El Floridita, la Bodeguita del Medio (todos en la Habana Vieja), la Terraza, Cojimar y la Finca Vigía son lugares que han sido escogidos para explotar el turismo nacional son los sitios que marcan en el crucigrama de la nacionalidad cubana lo que es hoy conocido como ‘La ruta de Hemingway en Cuba’.
Con un enlace a los propositos expuestos, en estos días se celebrará en Cuba un homenaje postumo al enigmático norteamericano aplatanado en Cuba y orgullo de nuestros recuerdos, Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) a propósito del 60 aniversario de la entrega del Premio Nobel de Literatura.
El Club Náutico Internacional Hemingway de Cuba confirmó hoy que para un mayor realce de las celebraciones sus nietos Patrick y John Hemingway formarán parte de una delegación de personalidades estadounidenses, muchos con relaciones naúticas y turísticas, que son esperadas aquí el próximo lunes.
Los familiares y otras personas vinculadas al autor de “El viejo y el mar” celebrarán, además, los 80 años de la compra de su emblemático yate ‘Pilar’ y el inicio de sus travesías desde Cayo Hueso a La Habana.
La fuente reveló que el próximo lunes una flota de embarcaciones de socios del Club Náutico, con la delegación visitante a bordo, zarparán de la Marina Hemingway (donde está el Club) para llegar a la localidad de Cojímar.
Hemingway (1899-1961), un icono de la literatura de Estados Unidos, vivió en Cuba algunos de sus años más productivos (de 1939 a 1960), en los que sembró amigos y admiradores incondicionales, entre ellos los pescadores de Cojimar.
Desde ese pueblito costero, a unos 10 kilómetros del este de La Habana, se dirigirán a la glorieta donde está el busto de Hemingway, a fin de rendir homenaje al escritor y depositar una ofrenda floral.
Ese busto de bronce fue creado a partir de despojos marineros, como anclas y propelas, recolectados por los pescadores amigos de Hemingway en los años 60 del pasado siglo, para demostrar su entrañable amistad.
La delegación sostendrá un encuentro en el Club Náutico Internacional Hemingway, lugar desde donde cada año zarpan los botes que participan en el torneo de pesca de la aguja que lleva el nombre del escritor.
El yate ‘Pilar’ fue donado a Cuba y se encuentra en el Museo de Finca Vigía, en el poblado periférico habanero de San Francisco de Paula, donde tuvo su residencia el autor de “Por quién doblan las campanas”.
En Cojimar se encuentra el restaurante-bar la Terraza de Cojimar, que aún prepara los platos y cócteles favoritos del también autor de “Las nieves del Kilimanjaro”.
