Ocho bailarines cubanos desertan en Puerto Rico. Los integrantes del Ballet Nacional de Cuba han solicitado el asilo en suelo estadounidense. Es la fuga masiva más numerosa en años.
Ocho miembros del Ballet Nacional de Cuba [BNC] abandonaron la gira que la compañía titular cubana está realizando en San Juan de Puerto Rico, acogiéndose al asilo político que pueden obtener inmediatamente los cubanos al pisar suelo norteamericano.
Varios integrantes del Ballet Nacional de Cuba (BNC) fueron recibidos por periodista del Canal America TV que los entrevisto.
En otro reporte, en su sitio en internet el canal indicó que serían ocho los bailarines fugados y publicó fotos de la llegada a Florida de Mónica Gómez, Carlos Ignacio Galindez y Rayssel Cruz.
Según América TeVé, Cruz, de 25 años y miembro del cuerpo de baile del BNC, dijo que solo se arrepiente de no haber escapado antes y comentó que la situación de los bailarines en la Isla es “precaria y frustrante”.
Aseguró que los funcionarios enviados por La Habana para vigilar a la delegación del BNC en Puerto Rico les quitaron los pasaportes al llegar a ese país.
Los jóvenes los recuperaron alegando que sus familiares en Miami les habían enviado dinero y necesitaban una identificación para el trámite.
El diario Primera Hora indicó que fueron ocho los bailarines que escaparon y añadió que, de ellos, al menos dos están aún en Puerto Rico. Primera Hora citó a Jorge Luis Sánchez, padre del bailarín Jorge Oscar Sánchez, de 23 años, quien voló a Puerto Rico desde Florida para reencontrarse con su hijo, y dijo que el joven y otro miembro del cuerpo de baile viajarán a Miami el lunes.
“A ciencia cierta, sabemos que hay ocho bailarines que decidieron dejar la compañía y no regresar a Cuba. De ese grupo, hay parte en Miami y parte en Puerto Rico, que están esperando el momento para salir”, afirmó Sánchez.
Alicia Alonso, quien desde hacía 30 años no visitaba Puerto Rico, fue recibida en el Departamento de Estado local por David Bernier, secretario de Estado, informó el sitio oficial Cubadebate.cu.
El Ballet Nacional de Cuba estaba realizando hoy domingo su última función en esa isla del Caribe, acompañados de su directora Alicia Alonso, cuando se verificó la falta de ocho destacados integrantes jóvenes de la plantilla, cuyos nombres aún no han trascendido; una fuente de la disidencia cubana de Miami elevaba a 11 las deserciones, extremo aún no confirmado.
Esta fuga masiva es la más numerosa en años, y recuerda la de los 10 de París en 1966, cuando una decena de artistas del ballet cubano se quedó en Francia. Ayer día 7 precisamente moría en Berlín el coreógrafo Ricardo Núñez (La Habana, 1945), uno de los últimos sobrevivientes de aquella gesta de 1966, una noticia que le dio la vuelta al mundo y que diezmó seriamente la plantilla habanera, al encontrarse entre ellos primeros bailarines y figuras destacadas.
Los destacados artistas del Ballet Nacional de CUba que han decidido no volver a La Habana en San Juan, según la misma fuente miamense, rondan los 25 años de promedio y algunos de ellos, era la primera vez que lograban salir de Cuba.

Eight Cuban dancers defect in Puerto Rico. The members of the National Ballet of Cuba have requested asylum in U.S. soil. It is the largest mass escape in years.
Eight members of the National Ballet of Cuba [BNC] left the tour company owner Cuban is doing in San Juan de Puerto Rico, invoking political asylum to Cubans can get immediately after stepping on American soil.
Several members of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) were received by America TV Channel reporter that interviewed them. In another report, on its website the channel said would runaway were eight dancers and posted photos of the arrival in Florida of Monica Gomez, Carlos Ignacio Galindez and Rayssel Cruz.
According TeVé America, Cruz, 25, and member of the corps de ballet of the BNC, said he only regrets not escaped before and said that the situation of the dancers on the island is “precarious and frustrating.”
He said officials sent by Havana to monitor the delegation of BNC in Puerto Rico took their passports upon arrival in the country.
The younger recovered claiming his Miami relatives had sent them money and needed to finish the process.
The newspaper Primera Hora said were eight dancers who escaped and added that, of these, at least two are still in Puerto Rico. Primera Hora quoted Jorge Luis Sánchez, Jorge dancer father Oscar Sanchez, 23, who flew to Puerto Rico from Florida to reunite with his son and said the boy and another member of the dance troupe will travel to Miami on Monday.
“For sure, we know that there are eight dancers who decided to leave the company and not return to Cuba. From that group, no party to party in Miami and Puerto Rico, who are waiting for the time to exit,” Sanchez said.
Alicia Alonso, who for 30 years did not visit Puerto Rico, was received at the local Department of State by David Bernier, Secretary of State, the official site Cubadebate.cu.
