Reporteros sin Fronteras (RSF) pidió el jueves la liberación de la periodista independiente Juliet Michelena Díaz, arrestada en Cuba el pasado día 7, y reclamó que se retiren todas las acusaciones que pesan sobre ella, para las que estima que no hay pruebas.

RSF relacionó la detención “con violencia” por la policía cubana de Michelena con la publicación tres días más tarde por el portal web Cubanet -con sede en Miami- de un reportaje suyo en el que relataba “un episodio de violencia policíaca común del que había sido testigo en La Habana”.

Se trataba, en concreto, del uso de perros sin bozal en la calle por parte de agentes de las tropas de elite “Boinas Negras”.

La periodista, que pertenece a la Red Cubana de Comunicadores Comunitarios, fue en principio acusada de “amenazas a una vecina de Centro Habana”, pero ahora la inculpación es por “atentado”, hizo notar la organización de defensa de los informadores.

Su directora de investigación, Lucie Morillon, reclamó su puesta en libertad “lo más rápido posible” e hizo notar que “el agravamiento de las acusaciones demuestra el deseo de hacer callar a la periodista y de censurar toda crítica”.

Morillon también denunció que “la violencia policial está lejos de ser un tema anodino para los ciudadanos cubanos”.

Michelena ya había sido arrestada el 26 de marzo, pero en aquella ocasión quedó libre a las pocas horas.

RSF recordó que el pasado día 12 otra periodista independiente, Dania Virgen García, fue agredida por policías cuando dejaba a su sobrino en la escuela, y que otras dos periodistas de la televisión oficial que grabaron la escena fueron detenidas con ella. Las tres quedaron en libertad esa misma noche.

Además de Michelena, hay otros tres periodistas y blogueros en prisión en Cuba: Yoenni de Jesús Guerra García, desde octubre de 2013 (condenado en marzo a siete años de cárcel); Ángel Santiesteban Prats, desde hace más de un año, y José Antonio Torres, del diario oficial “Granma”, desde julio de 2012 (condenado a 14 años).

La organización había aprovechado la visita el pasado día 10 del ministro francés de Exteriores, Laurent Fabius, a Cuba, para enviarle una carta en la que le instaba a abordar con las autoridades del país caribeño la cuestión de los periodistas entre rejas.

Según la clasificación por el grado de libertad de prensa que hace RSF, Cuba ocupa el puesto 170 de un total de 180 en todo el mundo, el último del continente americano.

Reporters Without Borders ( RSF) on Thursday called for the release of independent journalist Juliet Michelena Diaz, arrested in Cuba on 7 July , and demanded that all charges against her, for it sees no evidence retire.

Michelena had been arrested on March 26 , but this time was released a few hours .

RSF recalled that on the 12th another independent journalist Dania Virgen García , was assaulted by police when he left to his nephew at school, and that two other official television journalists who recorded the scene were arrested with her. The three were released the same night.

In addition to Michelena, three other journalists and bloggers are in prison in Cuba : War Yoenni Jesus Garcia , from October 2013 ( sentenced in March to seven years in prison ); Ángel Santiesteban Prats , for more than a year, and José Antonio Torres, the official daily ” Granma ” , from July 2012 ( sentenced to 14 years).
