2013 World Baseball Classic

The countdown to the biggest tournament in the world of baseball: the third World Baseball Classic next year, has entered a decisive phase for countries classified as those who seek your ticket since September. Hence the many news that are generated.

Japan, double holder in the first two editions of 2006 and 2009, said recently through its Players Association, dissatisfaction with the income received by the second gold (earning only 13%) and although they have threatened to boycott the event , they made it clear that the players achieve greater share of profits in battle in 2013.

For its part, the U.S. federation announced a few weeks ago the director for his team, which went to the decision known and lauded Joe Torres (four World Series wins), who now serves as executive vice president of baseball operations. Apparently, the northerners want to get on the podium, elusive in the first two versions.

Others have not been resting on their laurels are Dominicans, who was appointed as the veteran Moises Alou as general manager. In his own press conference to report the nomination, Alou said to David Ortiz as a future captain, while Tony Pena could be the manager, definitely something to be known in November.

Event organizers biggest balls and strikes confirmed as the semifinals and final will be played at AT & T Park in San Francisco. Also, Chase Field stadium in Phoenix and Scottsdale Salt River Fields will host the games in the first round, while the Miami Marlins Park will host the matches of the second phase.

Cuban Notes

The Cuban baseball route to the Third World Classic officially began after the conclusion of the last national series and made known a big bag of 77 players, which must leave the 30 that comprise the set, including 14 pitchers, as is established for this fair.
Two separate stops with Nicaragua and the United States, participation in the Tournament Dutch Haarlem, other games in November with professional teams from Chinese Taipei and Japan and a European tour presumably form part of essential competitive training.

However, as they cut the months to March, we continue to work on technical errors that drag some of our best players, without neglecting an accurate analysis of the contrary, many of them now members of major league teams or tasks in professional leagues in America and Asia.

About the director and gave a criterion: Jorge Fuentes and Victor Mesa, and even shared a formula would be interesting, which should sumársele a group of experienced coaches and craft. What not to do with time can cost the desired result in the WBC, which add a historic second in 2006 and fifth in 2009.

Teams Qualified for the III and Classic: Australia, China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, United States and Venezuela.
